Boar Hunt

Would anyone else be crazy enough to try and do a real one in Medieval style: armor, boar spear, etc?

It is something I have always wanted to do.

Anyone else? Or am I just crazy?

A minimum would be a great helm, Coat of Plates, Gamboissed Cuisses with poleyns, greaves, and gauntlets.

Keep in mind that that is a very general description, and although sounding sort of boring, can be dressed up a whole lot! (Ailettes, crests, etc).

The helmet is going to be the expensive portion. Outside of that- Gamboissed cuisses- I think I have seen them for sale for 50 or 60 bucks Poleyns- 50-60 dollars greaves- 60 or so CoP 100 a poofy sleeved gambeson will hide all manner of arms you already own. So about 200-300 + a helmet. Or you can m...

At one point in the Village, I got so tired of watching this one guy get hit over and over, and finally hitting him 5 or 6 times myself, that I just physically ejected him from the hut I was in. Chucked him right out. Now the question is, was he already dead too and simply not expressing that well e...

Max,

I agree with your assessment 100%. It seemed that once the temp went down and we had time to relax, the Mountain Pass was A LOT more fun and relaxed. Actually it might have been the most relaxed battle I have ever been in at Pennsic.

Ya know, its one thing to talk about honor, and I'd love to think that everyone takes the field with honor foremost in mind. I just dont always see that. Especially in that bridge battle. Products are only worth what someone will pay for them. Unfortunately, much of the work in the SCA is underpriced for the quality of craftsmanship and time put into various pieces. Much of this has to do with an undereducated or uneducated audience. A helmet to many people is a helmet, i.e.: because...
