Has anyone considered using kevlar or other aramid fabrics? I wonder how well they would hold up. Certainly with a layer of resin on them they would take paint very well.

Looking at prices, it seems to only be about $30-40 per 36"x60" piece- that doesn't make it too expensive.

He would get the joke/reference... Barb would probably kill me though.

15 years ago, I think that shovel greaves and bazubands provided an adequate rationalization for early period personas. I just got a purchase order for a flogging for a Mister D'Woulfe. Looks the deliverable date is coming up during Pennsic. I'll see if I can sub it out to Michael, Logan, or Cuan. They might be able to help me out on this one.

I have never understood the aversion people have to replacing weapons and armor in the SCA. They aren't overly expensive, but people just don't do it.

I have to agree with Justus for the most part, but there are a few other issues at hand here was well I think that are beyond just whether or not a "weapon" is worth buying. For instance, for me, any pre-made weapon is overpriced. I make my own, and hand pick my rattan as well as what bask...

The issue is a litle bigger than it might seem, as some events in Caid they literally will not let you fight if you do not have a "consort" present. Being single for most of the time I was in Caid, I ran into this a number of times while I lived there. I felt silly having to look for someo...

Oddly enough, the best pick ups seem to happen during the first week. Years ago, before households and other war responsibilities started taking over there were lots of high powered pick ups during the second week, but now it seems that everyone heads home right after the battles.

I think a lot of people forget that Rough From the Hammer exists. For the price, you really can't beat Cet's simple elbows and knees. They have not completed their required events for the reign to be validated- Coronation, Crown, and stepping down. Without that, they would not have a "completed" the reign, and would not be eligible to be raised to Count and Countess or Duke and Duchess as the case might be.

The leather basically wraps all the way around. The 3/8th" plastic cuisses are a 3/4 covering of the leg- both functional and protective.

I do not know how well the leather would hold up to rebated steel combat.
