I asked this in the show your kit thread, but I like the pictures here too. I'm preparing a presentation for an SCA class I'm teaching on Thursday night. Its about how to get started heavy fighting in the SCA. I would like to use the photos from this thread to show some new people the wide variety o...

I have a few questions. What kind of torch do you use for heating the pitch and annealing the metal? What type of steel do you make your tools from? Where did you get your pitch bowl? I was reading a tutorial from Valentin's site where he suggested not using a thin bowl like some of the stainless st...

Offhand, I would say the only way to legally protect your mark would be to register it as a trademark. The only one someone could steal your mark, and prevent you from using it anymore is if they registered it. Even if some people were to form a registration group, I don't see how it would have any ...

Another thing to consider as far as registering a cross in the SCA, the COH requires significant differences between registered arms, most if not all crosses conflict with each other. Passing a cross through the college of heralds is difficult because there are so many items that look similar. A fri...

Don't get discouraged Meaddrinker. Heres the problem, we don't know what you don't know, and for that matter you don't know what you don't know. Often times we assume that people know more than they do, and on the internet, it much harder to figure out stuff like that. Probably the easiest way to fi...

There was a show the discovery or history channel did last year for "Rome" week. It told a couple of stories. One was about the headline fight for the opening of the big colloseum in rome. According to records of the day, there were many fights and events leading up to one great fight. The fight was...

Where do you seen me talking about what I have done? This whole thing started because, I saw people belittling others an have always hated that. Wanting to be an elf in the SCA is not reasonable attempt by even the loosest definition. He pointed her to a group that was more appropriate for what she wanted to do. He could have been an ass and told her to get lost, he was at least nice and gave her a direction to turn. While the SCA is a Fanta...

You also listed shipping cost for two different shipping rates. Imagine that, a seller that lists actual details about their item, and offers choices with corresponding prices for different shipping methods. I think its funny, you try to be honest, and are able to sell your merchandise for more than...

It looks very nice. I'm curious to see how it will be padded around the bar work. I can't think of any way to pad that area without taking away the look, although it would probably look good if the outer most layer was some type of fabric. That might make it look as though the wearer is just wearing...

Yes, I was referring to the rapier practice. I was told that Aedan said heavy fighters would be welcome, but they had to provide a heavy marshall. It was suggested to contact Bryce or the merry rose if anyone was interested. I don't know who suggested that, but judging by his response, I don't think...

Thank you for the help. I will probably order some with they gypsum mixed in. Have either of you or anyone else for that matter used some of the more generic hide glues. Rabbit Glue Sources
I am looking to get some rabbit glue. I did a few searches through old posts but didn't find where anyone posted a source. I have found a few places online, but they all appear to be art supply stores. The prices so far have ranged from about $12 - $20 per pound. Does anyone know of a cheaper source...

You got a pic of A 110 from the side? Without just knowing, how do you know which pictures correspond to suit A 110? I assume that is the museum reference number. Is there a book that shows these suits along with the reference numbers. This is a great service you guys are doing by making these pict...
