Now to answer: The Albion Mark blades seem to be superior to the current Vanadium Steel Del Tin Blades in both weight, handling and strength. The Albion Mark blades are lighter and more wieldy than the ones from Del Tin (comparable blades seem to differ by as much as a quarter to a half pound). Furt...

Do you mean Albion Mark (the ones made by smiths from Albion), Albion Del Tin (made by Del Tin, but assembled at Albion) or Regular Del Tin (ordered by Albion pre-assembled from Fulvio Del Tin)? Also, do you mean the current Del Tins made of Vanadium Steel , or the older ones made of Krupps CK55 Ste...

While the picture is a tad fuzzy, I like what I see. Would you consider doing photos of the individual items in the kit? I'd like to see a close-up of the wax tablet, amongst other things.

I think there's something in your code that isn't correct. The image will not show up, even when the UBB code is input.

It seems the "Omarad Stopper" bolts are the most affordable option. I think I'm going to go with that. As Siloflex was suggested, I'm going to get in contact with BaronEirik (who's local to me) to get enough for between 50-100 bolts. I expect they're an expendable/durable item that way.

The "Norman Period" isn't necessarily centered on the Duchy of Normandy, or the period of the Norman Conquest. It extends from circa 950 through 1291 A.D., and to areas as varied as England, Scotland, Wales, Italy, Sicily, Cyprus and the Crusaders States of Outremer. It didn't matter where you lived...

D. Sebastian:

I have no idea on the thrust-and-throw javelins. As with combat crossbow bolts, I think it depends on the methods that are approved SCA-wide as well as in your kingdom.
You'll want to check with your Kingdom Deputy Earl Marshal for Thrown Weapons, just to be certain.

iaenmor, WMA, Bart, et al: If the bolt style that WMA builds is legal in the Midrealm, it may be the way I end up going. On constructing a trumpet from cow or buffalo horn

I'm considering that I'd like to have a horn trumpet. Has anyone tried to make this, or know anyone who has? What would be involved in the construction, beyond a clean piece of buffalo or cowhorn?

Would this require a special mouthpiece? And what about metalwork around the mouth of the horn?

Pictures would be helpful--being able to visualize it will make quite a difference. I already have more than enough golf-tubes at home,so that's not a worry. I'll get in contact with local people to find out if the "chair tip" option is legal in the Midrealm.

(SCA) Combat Crossbow quarrels - construction

Now that I've secured a combat crossbow from Hightower Crossbows, I'm wanting to make crossbow bolts for it. I have a few questions: <B> ⋅  Now I know that the Middle Kingdom allows both golf-tube quarrels and siloflex quarrels. Do they allow Balder Blunts on the heads, or just tennis ball...
