Thanks for the compliments, all. Regarding the falchion made by Hot Black, we did some cutting tests with it when it first came to us. We did the test on an old cottonwood stump in the park we'd hold fighting practice in. I should post those pictures....the falchion has a dull edge like an axe, and ...

Consequently, it'll speed the weapon up considerably without hurting the striking po...

To Warclub_33: Since you asked, pictures of a rattan falchio
Warclub_33 (and anyone else interested) : On a previous thread regarding rattan maces, Warclub asked me to show some pictures of my rattan falchion. My personal favorite is based on the Conyers Falchion from Durham Cathedral. Here are a few provided photos of my interpretation: http://home.armourar...

De Grace: I wonder...do they make Siloflex big enough to line a leather scabbard with? It certainly bears considering... As for rattan-cored Siloflex swords, I'm probably going to make one, modelled after one that Sir Marcus von Westphal uses. He has one of my scabbards, but it's difficult for him ...

Warclub_33: I have a very simple rule for SCA-style rattan weapons--they should look like the real item as much as is humanly possible, or within Kingdom and Society rules. Also, it should handle as close to the real article as you can make it. My swords balance about the same as my "St. Maurice" D...

I was planning on posting a tutorial...but until home@armourarchive.org gets repaired, I can't do the pictures. http://www.armourarchive.org/ubb/frown.gif What I do is get a fairly straight piece of rattan (bark on) from BaronEirik (a. k. a., Eirik Dweorgax). I cut my rattan to the desired length (s...

Something seems wrong with home@armourarchive.org...
JT (or some editor person): I got onto the Archive just now. It's moving slowly, and every picture from home@armourarchive.org shows up as a red x. When I tried to access the page, it wouldn't let me. When I tried to access the ftp for the page, I got a message that there was a server problem. I tho...
