Garters - 14th Century

I am working on my early 14th century kit.

I think I need Garters for my chausses.

I have seen both woven and leather. I have seen tied and buckled. What would be the most accurate for a circa 1305ish kit?

Where are some places to get them?

Strapping Soupcan Knees

I need to strap some stainless steel soupcan knees.

My question is what kind of rivets should I use and where can I get just a few?

14th Century Knees / Cuisses

I just got a new set of stainless steel "soupcan" knees to attach to my gamboised cuisses.

I have a couple of questions:

What is the best way to attach the knees to the cuisses?

What type of rivet should I use? Where do I get them?

WTB Used Aventail

Looking for a used aventail that isn't in too bad of shape for SCA heavy fighting. Don't have much funding for armour right now, so it needs to be inexpensive.

Anybody have an old one that they can part with for not too much money?

Another way to lighten your kit would be to get gamboised cuisses from Sir Gareth http://www.gambesons.com and get a set of aluminum knee cops from rough from the hammer or bokalo.

The 14th Knights are returning from the Crusades. I guess it must have been some years after the "end" of the "final" crusade (7th, 8th, or 9th depending on source) through 1272. This certainly doesn't jibe with the Black Plague. However, I guess it is plausible if they were retu...

Hollywood takes aim at 14th Century Again

Looks like Hollywood failed to do its homework again with Season of the Witch. They chose to shuffle the medieval history deck and only deal the "cool" cards. "Nicolas Cage stars as a 14th century Crusader who returns with his comrade (Ron Perlman) to a homeland devastated by the Blac...
