Overall, it would depend on the response/comments that you generate. Here is my opinion: It would be ethical to state your experience in buying a like item using FACTS of what happened. Keep your subjective comments to yourself. If the armourer responds, leave it alone. Don't get into a thread duel....

Re: WTB aluminum elbow cops

I recently came into a huge chunk of leather and decided I would like to build myself some new arms. Was thinking about using aluminum elbows to cut the weight down. Though I am curious how they hold up compared to s.steel. Any good suggestions where I could find a nice pair of al elbows...? http:/...

Not Kydex

HDPE Plastic Barrel. Very strong, lightweight, and cheap. It also happens to be roughly shaped like the human body.

You might try going to a car wash or something similar to see if they will give you one (or for cheap).

Should have thought about sizing . . . The shoulders will fit just about anybody, but are probably on the Larger side. The Kidney/back rig can be resized to a point. But would probably be better for somebody a bit larger. Waist on the order of 38 - 44 inches (give or take a bit). May not be pretty, ...

I wonder what the issue is with "Keep". There are other shires across the SCA that use Keep (i.e. Falcon's Keep, Fire Mountain Keep, Okeborne Keep, etc.) Here are some potential alternates: Hadrian's Reach Hadrian's Hollow Hadrian's Wood Hadrian's Crest Hadrian's Haven Hadrian's Gate Hadri...

http://www.ashcraftbaker.com/ Helms starting at $60. I think there is too much of an emphasis on spending as little money as possible on kit. Everyone is on a budget though. Haven't had any experience with Ashcraft Baker. However based on some recent posts, his quality and service have slipped some.

I did have a GREAT time!!

I had the honor and priviledge of crossing swords with Sir Mons (and others) at the Pas de Armes. I had the opportunity to try some weapons forms and scenarios that I had never tried before. It was such a blast!!

Get with your local SCA group and see if they have any loaner armour.

This will give you the opportunity to "try before you buy".

Your local group may also have amouring workshops, etc.

Good Luck!!
