Harry, Overall a very solid kit. I really like the CoP. Keep going! You mentioned the boots already. I would start with a long sleeve shirt and chausses to cover the skin & kneepads on both the arms and legs. Are you wearing a 'Romanesque' tunic? Here are my observations: 1. Re: 14th Century Scottish Warrior

From what I have read, the majority of the Norse influx occured prior to the 14th century.

Way back in my own family tree, a relative came from Scandanavia to lowland scotland in the mid 13th century.

Best to start with a specific place and date (such as 1335 Renfrewshire) and build from there.

I'm also considering this for my new chinstraps. http://www.amazon.com/LWH-Gentex-Retention-Helmet-Strap/dp/B009MZ12U6/ref=pd_sim_indust_4 This chinstrap seems a bit spendy and overkill. Have you considered this one: http://www.windrosearmoury.com/zc/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=270...

Re: critique armor

Armour is just a portion of your overall presentation. The big question is what personna are you trying to emulate. That will help to determine choices.

Your armour is good enough to get on the field, for now.

Work on the finer details and finish. Garb can make a big difference.

Get in touch with Axe (accdntprone here on AA).

Blackfrye,

Welcome to the Archive.

It would be helpful to know what your budget is.

Bokalo's Armoury http://www.bokalosarmoury.com/ has excellent gauntlets in T6 and you might find the basket hilt there too. He is great to work with.

Good Luck!

Appreciated, fred. I'm considering either a wisby 1 or a basic breastplate. Is either one more economic on materials than the other? Depends on your overall implementation. You might get more mileage out of a barrel on a wisby, but not by much. Good Luck . . . and PLEASE plan to cover the plastic. ...

It may take more than 1 to do all of the parts. Keep in mind that the top and bottom several inches of the sides is more or less unusable (due to thickness).

Re: How big is a barn door? Moving up in shield size.

The barn door question is also a matter of proportion. It depends on how big YOU are. If you are only 5 ft tall. The shield you suggest would be a barn door. If you are 6'6" (like me), the same shield would be proportional. There also tend to be some size differences between tournament shields and w...

Re: Critique my SCA fighting

I only had time to view the S&S vs S&S fights. I noticed a couple of things. First, from what I could see, is that you have less than optimal (trying to be nice) shield discipline. Its just kinda flinging around, which opens up huge holes for more patient fighters. Fewer big moves, don't over block ...
