Re: Traveling light

I remember when I was first starting in the SCA there was a gent who was a minimalist camper. He had a, well, what can best be described as a 'sasquatch hide' sleeping bag cover (big furry thing) and used a camping candle (similar to THIS ) for light. Everything else (armour, small chair, garb, feas...

Re: Gleann Abhann Spring Crown List

For the rest Lorracan can be there easily... I have really only seen him fight sword and board. Lorracan is a very 'dangerous' fighter. He fights equally as well with either hand and is in physical excellent shape. Don't know about his two-handed weapons skill. So, if he can navigate past the 2nd r...

Re: Critique My SCA Kit

Hi all, looking for input on my kit. First, a few things about it; I'm looking to do a Swiss or German in the mid 14th century. Currently I am working on a new shield, Churburg 14 style breastplate, padded chausses with knees pointed to them, and splinted greaves. My goal is to make a kit worthy of...

Re: assembling scale chausses

Hi, I was wondering if anyone on the archive had any recommendations for attaching scales to their backing. The would be used in blunted steel combat (I'm based in Scotland). I'm aiming for a fit similer to the statue of St. George In Hradcany square in Prague. These are for a 1330-1350-ish knightl...

Re: How many fighters?

Lets see,

40000 helms/33 years = 1212.1 helms/year

1212.1 helms/year / 365 days/year = 3.32 helms/day

(Using a 12 hour workday)
3.32 helms/day / 12 hours/day = 0.28 helms/hour

Possible?

'Finished' building my Armouring workbench over the weekend. It is 22"w x 30"l x 32"h. Still need to make some minor adjustments.

I will post pictures as soon as I mount the stake holder, etc to the bench!

Thanks for the inputs!

Cost of a sheet of T6 Aluminum

Does anyone know what the going rate is for a 4'x8' sheet of 6061 T6 Aluminum (0.090 thinkness)?

I have some quotes from local vendors, but trying to get an idea of what the cost "should" be?

Going Sinister

For all of my fighting career, I have mainly been a right hand sword and board fighter. Due to an injury to my right wrist, I am having to switch to fight predominantly left hand (sinister S & B).

Can anyone recommend any drills or exercises to aid in the transition?
