Re: I wanna be a 14TH CENTURY SCOT

What colors of materials would have been most prevalent in the early 14th century with respect to Scottish Garb?

Any particular fabrics?

Re: WTB: Travel armor bag

Duke Paul has a guide for making a breakdown travel heater (somewhere here on the Archive).

A Flyers Kit Bag (Military Surplus) is a good travel armour bag or a rolling hockey bag.

You can reduce weight in your bag by putting your helm & gaunts into your carry on.

Halberds Beginners Kit - still available?

Is Halberds still selling the Beginners Kit?

if yes,
- What comes with the kit now?
- How much is it?
- Are there any additional tools that are a "must have" for simple helms, etc?

The armour for the show was made by an Archive member . . .

The gambesons are of period design.

Swords for the 'other' Gulf War (Kuwait)

Im currently at 'scenic' Camp Patriot in Kuwait. Was wondering if anyone had some extra Rattan Swords and hilts (SCA) they could donate and send my way? I am trying to SCA-vangelize some folks out here and a few swords would go a long way to getting things started. (Don't think we need armour, yet ....

As the 'guy behind the scenes', please provide Eric (or I) with any bugs you run across. I've been working on the bugs and design for a couple of months now.

Your feedback is encouraged and appreciated!

Re: Mantle Pattern

Thought I would contribute. I just made one for my helm. It could still use a little tweaking but I think it works for now. I attached the pattern laid out flat so you could get an idea of the shape. The two round halves were sewn together. It was ultimately one piece with a seam running over the t...

Mine is 14' dia. I have been using it since '98 and put it up by myself. The khana are all one piece. The khana stayed out in the rain and sun for a couple of days and when I took them down they just rolled up. Packs up quite nicely on the bed of the truck. The black webbing wraps around the top an...

Ian,

Give the folks at HE a call. They are nice folks.

Also, you still may want to DIY. Give the folks at Resurrecting History a call. Their patterns are really good, and they are more than willing to 'talk you off the ledge' of frustration.
