What era and location is your outfit based on? I really like how it looks. My tunic is based on the one found in Kragelund bog which dates to the 11th cent. My trousers are based on an earlier pattern that most Viking age reenactors use from Thorsberg they are made from a herringbone weave hemp. My...

Chuck later shirts all seem to be with sleeves. So I think the one you have is perfect for you late Roman kit already. If I were you I would use the money to buy one of those dished shields from Christian, and use the shirt you currently have.

New Viking Tunic

I finally got around to sewing my new tunic form some scrap I had laying around. You might notice in some of the photos that some of the pieces in the tunic vary in shade and texture. Also my lovely wife in her Viking kit. ...

Joe Piela Gladius for Sale

This blade was made by Joe Piela of Lonely Mountain Forge. Joe is now currently charging near 500 USD for this pattern of gladius. The grip is made from European walnut, and bone. The guard has a nice bronze inlayed plate. The blade is hand forged from high carbon spring steel with a nice temper. Al...

Will I am sorry but I dont have any pre-pics. However you can see them on Soul of the Warriors webpage. Here is the scabbard once I got it done. There is not much evidence for copperalloy scabbards, but there are some in different patterns. [img]http://i131.photobucket.com/albums/p309/Doktor_Zaius/P...

Cat Fiebings makes a Antique black dye that would look super cool. It comes out like aged, weather beaten super dark grey. Then you could do the detail lines in black to make them have depth.

Corran, Pretty much what Irish says. There is a nice extant example of a Swiss coat of plates in the Landesmuseum in Zurich. It was discovered at Kussnacht am Rigi. As far as I know its a unique design, and not found anywhere else. I believe Mad Matt makes a good copy of this. One thing I noticed wh...

Roman Pugio Project

I finally got around to rehilting this piece after I reshaped the blade. This is one of the pugios that Soul of the Warrior sells, and also Battlemerchant in Germany. Viking Tunic Construction Idea

I have been banging around the idea of making a Viking tunic circa 11th cent from some scrap wool I have. I have around 3 yards of fabric from some Roman cloak projects that I have made in the past. (dirty yellow brown) The farbic consists of pieces that are all similar in color, and in textures, bu...

Its around 2 inches long so it would have to be a shallow pot  There are scores of small forks found all over the Roman empire so its safe to assume they were using them to eat with.

Generally accepted that it was a Gaullic invention, but others disagree

I think the earliest representation will be Republican Roman.

Couple of Gladi (Roman Swords)

The Fulham is for board member James B. The blade has been forged from a piece of antique bar stock. I think it was part of a horse drawn mower. The hilt is made from American black walnut, and ash. The 2nd is my own Pompei pattern thats been re-ground, and rehilted from an Indian import. Usually I ...
