Is there indication that there is any treatment of the hem like later century breeches? Most sculpture I've seen shows a very tight fitted bracae ending just below the knee and not riding up when the leg is bent. Or is this just a reality vs art thing? Clinker, When I first made the trousers they w...

David, Both of the tunics worn are based on the Bocksten tunic recovered from a bog in Sweden. The green one was sewn from some scrap wool I had, and its not an exact copy of the actual Bocksten. However it is very close to the original pattern, and follows period fashion. The hood being worn by the...

Few More Pics 14th Century Kits
Here are a couple more pics of friends from a local event this past weekend. The one in the blue Bocksten and green hood is our very own CharlesI. The other pics are of a friend of mine who does not belong to this board. I made the hood and tunic myself, and the hosen were made by JamesB, and the sh...

Pics of Winter Roman Kit
Here are a few pics of my take on a first century soldiers cold weather clothing. The pale yellow long sleeve tunic is patterned from the Thorsberg tunic found in Demark, as are the trousers. I cut the legs off ont he trousers to mimic bracae, as commonly seen in Roman art. . My lower legs are cover...

Wineskins
I am looking for a wineskin to use with my Roman kit. I would like to find one thats made from the entire animal skin. I dont want one of the standard plastic bottles inside a suede cover. Any sources out there? I was told that these are still used in regions of the Med today.

Combat Archery with Crossbow SCA
Just got a crossbow from a good friend who builds them for SCA combat. Can anyone make suggestions on sites that show me how to build bolts, and where to buy components?

Hand Forged Gladius Blade For Sale
I forged this blade a couple years ago and never got around to hilting it until this year. Well to make a long story short the hilt didn't turn out the way I wanted. So here is your chance to own a handforged blade. The blade is about 19 inches long and around 2 inches wide. It does have some distal...

Tech, For 13th cent Swiss you might want to consider a greathelm, or a simple bascinet. Both of these are easily obtainable from several armourers for under 250 dollars. Sallets are way too late for our portrayal. Technically there wasnt a "Switzerland" until 1291, so your pretty late in the 13th ce...

Chef I agree with you 100%, just trying to offer something that wouldnt break the bank of the modern day average Joe. Repro 42s are around 500 bucks if you look hard, but Spencers are a bear to find under 1500. Plus the 42 would give you the option of hunting small game with shot, and ball for large...
