Has anyone here made a proper buff coat? If so, what were your sources for leather and what pattern did you use?

WTS/WTT Paul Chen/Hanwei Cut and Thrust Sword
For those that know me on here, I tend to get obsessive about new kits occasionally. Several months’ back, I got it in my head that I was going to complete a ECW kit. Well...the winds have changed and I am no longer pursuing this endeavor. I purchased a Paul Chen sidesword, or sometimes called a c...

When I am forced to make use of a tent, I have canvas sacks for trash, dirty clothes and things of that nature. They do not stick out as being incorrect, and they are easily washed if soiled. Sportsmans Guide sometimes has heavy linen/hemp Swiss feedsacks. Once they are washed and the ink printing e...

The use of hobnails was more as a means of saving the sole then traction. This actually makes sense when you think about it, how long would it take for metal to wear down then leather? Don Not always, hobnails do provide traction for shoes, more so than preventing the sole from wearing down. I own ...

Do you gentles actually use the period items you carry? Yes, for nearly every period I have accoutrements for, but 18th century is my most complete for use. Late 16th Early 17th Century Headwear
Digging through images of this period, I am starting to notice a trend for headgear being black, mainly felt hats of the period. Does anyone have period images of other colors being used for felt hats? I would assume that brown would another option. In the same vein, I am looking for a supplier for ...

Flittie,
I am not familiar with SCA specs on these helmets. But I found this page a few weeks back, while searching for photos of morions.
I hope this will give you a better idea how easy it would be to modify one of these helmets.
