Wood Turner Needed!

I need someone to turn some wooden parts for two Roman swords for me. I can provide the diagrams for the pieces. The will be very simple to produce from hardwood.

I definately need someone who can do this in a decent amount of time.

Thanks Audax, this would not have been possible with out the guidance of CLANG. I am sure I could have gotten it together, but the lines would not have been so nice. Mark is one of the best armourers out there in my honest opinion, and a fantastic tutor! I love the lines also, they are very delicate...

Honestly? I cannot say, but since it was my project totally, I wanted it that way. This is actually the planished look, but not polished.

Norse/Norman/Early Crusades Helmet Project

Decided that I needed a helmet for my Viking kit that was not your standard cross frame spangenhelm. I thought I would add the photo of the helmet that inspired this project. http://www.reenactment.de/reenactment_start/reenactment_startseite/diverses/kitguide/Themse.jpg The helmet was found in North...

Damn, I was just looking in 'Le Livre des Tournois du Roi Rene' at the kettle hats the 2n'd ranks were wearing and thinking that one would be PERFECT for marshaling siege battles (keep the sun out of the eyes and offer emergency protection when necessary)... If it had a little more 'nipple' on the ...

I used dogbones recently on my latest shield project. I sewed the rawhide on while it was still wet and floppy (no remarks Wolf) and it seemed to form better to the shield.

Roman Hamata Hooks and Buttons

Set of hamata hooks and buttons that came with my shirt from Find-it Armory. These come rough sand cast and I polished them, and tin plated the front of the hooks, and buttons. These have not been installed, and are in better shape than the come new. Here is a link to the ones on Find Armory. m 45 USD

Sean, Are you sure that the segmentata was more flexible than maille? I find this statement very hard to believe after wearing both styles of mentioned armors. With the requisite amount of padding in the subarmalis , yes. I wouldn't quite want to test it on myself versus archery, but I'd be willing...

Pictures are dead on that site. I might go with the thicker leather (probably 6-8oz, or whatever my current belt is made from) for now and come back to make something more authentic later. Info on the design and materials of the stiffeners, buckles, and fittings would be great. Omar here is the fir...

I have some thinner 4oz leather, or would that be too thick? With the two layers of leather rather than the one thicker one, how would you keep them together? Why do you believe that was used instead? Is there some advantage to it? I have seen one report find on a 4th century belt that had leather ...

Omar, The common thought is that the loops were probably used to suspend small knives, and small bags. However, this is only a theory, they could be used only for decoration. I used mine to support a small bag with a flint and steel fire starting kit, and a small belt knife. The very wide belts star...

Every Roman sword that I have seen has had the pommel peened on. Some have a nice decorative "nut" in place and then peened, but others show nothing more than a peened tang.

The Paul Chen is not what I am looking for. The axe I posted is actually more of a tool than a weapon.

I tried ragweed forge, but I did not see this model. Plus I would prefer for it to be forged instead of drop forged/cast.

Thanks!
