One of my more recent encounters was with a overly religious family at a local demo. We had a display set up of helmets from Roman to modern. The young boy with the family picked up my Coolus C (Roman helmet) and asked what it was. I responded that it was a Roman helmet from the 1st century AD. He l...

Cardwoven Trim Needed ASAP!

I know the regular suppliers for trim, but I am in need of only about 16 inches. Does anyone have something they can sell/trade deduct from charity? I just need enough to go around two cuffs on my new tunic. Width does not matter. 1/2 up to 2 inch I do not care. If you have some scraps from a projec...

Polishing Compound

I have some cast bronze pieces that I need to polish. They are rough from the mold, but they came from a very clean mold. Any suggestions on what type of compound to use on my buffing wheel?

Do you honestly believe that "wrap shots" were even remotely effective against an armoured advisary?

I have explained this to you via email, and PM.

The advertised price of 120 usdwas for the sword, and the scabbard. The additional money was for the bone grip which I had advertised at an additional 25 USD. This added the total to 145, plus 15 dollars to ship thats 160-

Please be patient.

Electroplating with Tin?

I have a rather large project coming up where I will need to tin plate several objects, and I was curious if there is a home method to electroplating with tin. I know that Caswell makes a kit, but its over 125 bucks, and I am rather destitute at the moment.

Why try to make a 20th century boot into something that did not exist in the middle ages? For the cost of these boots, and a little more you can actually own something that existed? Biker boots, and Commie dice shakers are one of the bad marks on the SCA. You might as well be wearing Reeboks!

These are sapogi (sp) Russian boots, and the shaft of the boot is actually canvas, and not leather. No where worth the 100+ dollars.

Well my logical guess would be that the shoes were made that way to fit your feet in many conditions, and if they were a piece of issue equipment, to fit a wider variey of foot shapes.

I read something once that suggested horn/bone comb teeth were sawn with woolen threads. The threads were rolled in resin, and then in sand to produce a abrasive surface. I dont know the validity of this statement just thought it an interesting anecdote.
