Treat the experiance like a college class. Take notes, sketch things, draw or take pictures if its ok. Write down stuff. I use index cards, pens, pencils, note books, and sharpies all the time. More so when it comes to things that are important. Titles, authors, sources for materials, project detail...

There are a few company's that made specialty tools for copper and silversmithing. A lot of the designs just need to be upscaled for armour work. Dixon, pendinghause, and pexto have stakes available. Using catalog or auction images should give you a general idea on shape. Many of the pexto stakes ar...

There are a lot of options when it comes to tools. iron monger, halberts, and a few others make tools, you can also modify existing tools. modifying tools can be as simple as sanding down the edges or as advanced as shaping a lump of steel into hammer shape. Depends on the turney format and number of combatants.
Space goes up a lot when your using teams or barriers.
If your being silly with Heidelberg style turney 10' length and width is huge.

Ridged uprights can be a hazard if the combatants fall or become entangled.
The eletric fence posts used in thrown weapons and archey are an issue.
