Considering the scope and breath of the project you almost need a database arcatecture of some type. Searchable parameters like Tools, techniques, skill level, content originator, format, and a hoast of catagorizes for building anything. A wiki may be a good starting point having users linking exist...

Rugby may be a good example/comparison of spikes/hobnails in use.
Then again rugby does a lot more physical conditioning than your experienced fighter.

Re: Hobnails and Cleats, how dangerous are they?
Part of the issue with cleats is simply the foot work. lacross, football, and rugby deals a lot pushing and less with torsion. Marshal arts like karate and boxing are a bit closer when it comes to how we develop force and turn/twist starting with the stance. A lot of ankle and knee issues can be avo...

Updating your general location may help. There maybe things on Craigslist or local auctions can help. On eBay its often worth asking if sellers will ship. Sometimes there is an additional fee if it needs a crate or special packing. Often a plastic bag and can of spray foam works to stabilize odd sha...

A modified locking gauntlet may work.
It helps to think of it as a Demi gauntlet with attached Cup hilt.
Construction would be a lot like a sheet metal tool box.

The wire shelving racks I think work fairly well for storage. Clipping a few wires will convert a shelve into a hammer/stake rack fairly quick. The other shelves work for general storage. It can help to add 1/8 luan or puck board the feet on some tools will catch on the grate. being fairly visual I ...

Butted chainmail varies a lot depending on material, wire/ring size and tailoring.
Most shirts endup with holes at the armpit, avaintails last much longer than anything else.
Often butted construction needs a little upkeep over time but so does everything else.
Padding and straps wear out with use.

Re: Looking for suggestions on Lamellar cord
your likely going to want a 2mm cord possibly smaller, the material goes though some holes twice. Nyltex or the braided cord I think holds up better then artificial sinew. The big advantage of nylon or poly is using heat to fusing the end into a Fid or needle shape. If your working that small it may...

You may want to look at a reil burner, rocket forge, or induction heater. induction heaters are not really cheap for anything of size. The big thing is limited heat loss to the outside environment. Even a simple pile of fire brick helps speed up heating a bit. propane and industrial gas costs less i...

Rubbing varnish maybe an option for some other pieces when I have a bit more money for materials.
