I start with a steel plate in the vice with a round edge around 1/2 inch or 14mm. start rolling the edge and make shure not to rush itprobibly take around 4 passes.

actualy wood shapeing form are often used to shape od objects like fenders and gas tanks for motor cycles and other home auto pieces.
with armouring helms at around 16 guage or better it still works but the wood tends to deform very quickly.

actualy making lead hammer heads is not a boad idea just rember to cove the heads to cut down on the dust. usualy go for just a think layer of leather tied on.

actualy dryer works well. probibly pick one up for around 40 at the local salvage yard. it does a little bit more wear and tear then your regualr laundry.

it all depends on shop conditions. the grit your using humidity cloud cover even phases of the moon can effect the end anser dramaticaly.

usualy run a little thinner but not much. same base matereal and the bigger ones tend to last a little longer not to mention work a little more like a real weapon.

around 4 bucks in tools if you already own a bucket and some brillo pads. i think I was using corse steel wool or a chore boy.
vinagar and a litte scrubing take it right off.
the 4 bucks is to get to the grocery and by a gallon or two of vinagar. and a pare of gloves.

as far as i know I think la esteraza "the spanish circle" is the only one with an unbroken linage that dates back to period. theres a guy in the north eastern us that teaches. I think there up to three different schools now.

could go eather way. althougth switch form the monkey wrench to a shot put tied one with a monkeys fist knot. also make shure to catch it in the shield then walk up his shins with your rugby spikes.

check with the local shops. if you are willing to run the file one the edges and scrub off all the scale it cuts the price almost in half. if you are doing your own shaping it should be quite cheep. compared to buying somthing off the shelf.

for around 700 you can pick up an inverter tig set up that will work well. on ebay.
a small mig is all you realy need if you have a tig. around 150.

go with a fiberglass recurve usulay cost under 25. actualy you can usuay fill a grove twice the with of the rod diamiter when you arc weld with mig it ends up being about 1/8 or so. with a brass or copper backing plate you can have the backing material contaminate the weld pool. not a big deal if you plan to grind down the root and weld it again for...
