smith also makes some good equipment. the cutting tips are quick to tear down for cleaning. I have not had a problem finding parts but there are quite a few good supplyers in the area.

the usualy older is better as long as it is not pitted with the horn in good condition.
although being that small it could very well be a cobling anvil.

I think there are a few people that deal in japanies archery at pennsic but the prices for a horse bow usualy run around 200+ for a good one

most of the shots trasalate over but the 8 and 9 need to be brought up to above the knee. the disarms are compleatly use less and the sinawalies are good for learning force and speed but are inefective in combat. althought sca combat princbles transalate well in to the informal disarms. my experianc...

what game do you play? the cold working properties can very greatly depending on the chemical work up of the metal and the temper. to anneal the stainless heat it to a red and the quench. what type of stump do you have?
the method that works well will be dependant on the wood properties. IE trying to hammer in a dish in to black locust will not work.
also trying to cut it with much of anything can become tricky.

a 1/4 inch Id with 14 guage wire might to it with a padded coif underneath but also a dubble weave or maybe a dragons weave may also work. but if you go this way make shure you have a heavey padding in the coif in that area. maybe even some splints

there are other materals avalible. bone, wood, rope, fabric. rope works well but can be a bit bulky. not quite shure what the proces is called but fabric can be glued and stiffend. check the local high way department or junk yard most will have street signs or sheet metal. ask aome one in your group...

I would have to check but our local machenist uses special bits that go strait through files. designed after some company case hardend a few thousand parts before the whole got drilled.

lens are cheep go to the dealer and pick up A 10 and a 12 the ten should do it but if you have light colored eyes you may want to start with the 12. does your welder have a hook up for gas? if so start wit regular mig. go to the junk yard and ask about street signs.
if you dart a stop sign and add a little bit to the botom for a tear drop.
other wise you may want to add a few ribs depending on the strenth of the aluminum. cover the whole bit with leather. and you should be set.
