curved heaters usualy go for a bit more then that in aluminum I think is about 40 and in wood I have sceen them start at 30 for just the shield blanks.

preheat the weld for about 4 hours to around 500 then weld with nickle rod throught it back in the oven after. also make shure you have gound the joint clean it makes a big differance. althought on my last castiorn project I preheated then tig welded it with 309 stainless. so far working pretty well

I believe aetheamark has youth combat broken up in to four age groups sword and shield for the younger and move wepon forms as the groups advance. lacross helms or equivalant not to many turneys but I bleave that most are round robin.

the local welding shop can get it but will probibly carge you around 9-13 a pound with a minamum order of ten pounds unless they move a lot of it.

I believe that a skirt would look well. with soup can knees hidden under you fighting garb it would stick out very little.
with more protecton then plastic although it would take a bit longer very much worth the effort.

probibly would work but its goign to be a bit expencive to shape. I have only heard of it being worked hot. if you can find a copy of ryerson hand book you should be able to find a bit more info.

work at building up the callouses slowly. I saw a few for sale at pensic with four one inch rings welded at right angles. you could also try a strip of steel around the edge with the top and bottom edge curved in so that it looks in cross section something like this (---R---). A T T A N

the local hardware store it charging about 88 cents a foot.

there are a few armouries that will sell helm kit's. all the pieces you need. all you have to do is shape and rivet. the amount of shaping and riveting depends on the kit.
if you do all the paterning in posterboard you could probibly find a local shop that would do the cutting for you.
