I think some one is offering planishing stakes made out of large pipe caps. you should just be able to flip it over grind the edge and mount it to something. I also think kingslayer sells them.

you can use hot water or steam to bend the ratan in to all kinds of shapes. most often sceen with great weapons and polearms the bending can be done with a form or buy hand. the process it self is very simular to how they form ratan baskets and furnature.

I have heard that a post heat will help take out tension. but you may just want to bend it between two pieces of pipe set about 1/4 inch apart parralel to eachother make shure the edges are parralel at the start and the end there buy using the pipes as a sliprole.

I know of a sitter or two that would take them for a few hours a night. try and find some one with a large tent that is willing to share is also an option just to have a place out of the sun for the little ones during the afternoon...
