I have heard form some of the local poters in my area that salt tends to stik to the walls of the kiln and end up being reintruduced into the firing process.

that will work as long as you are using a low to medium bow but once you get up to 50+ they tend to wear out rather quickley. faster still if you tend to hit the frame and not the target. also don't even try finding good wood for combat arrows at the hardware store.

I have a set of the most worthless arrows out there picked up form the lost and found auction at pennsic no two are a like. If you want I can try and find them. trade for equaly worthless armour bits or what ever.

it is do able but if you plan to weld anything to it expect to preheat for about 12-15 hours and a post heat about that long and it cooling for a while.
I would sugest reshape it as best you can or work with it as it is.

blue foam workes just make shure you get the varity that they stock at target. its a bit denser but also buttery soft. If your woried about looks you can easly cover them with cloth. the stuff at walmart will work but is a bit corse and does not form to the head as well. making it as a shell linner ...

there is a breast plate made out of 1/2 inch steel floating around some where.
I bleave it was made buy an art student that wanted to trade for armour.
I would guest it to weight 45 pounds. although this thread has goten me motavated to hunt it down where ever it may be.

Actually it was a gift. Still in shipping but there was a requirement that I learn to use it properly. Actualy its about the best recruitment method that I have ever had the pleasure of being the victim of.

it seams that great helms would work well. at 18 gauge it should punch quick and shape very fast its also light enuff to run through most equipment available.
also rember at 18 gauge you are compeating aginst a lot of other mass production helms that apear on ebay.

first you hit the head of the nail to give it a piened look. then you set the nail in the hole. set the other side with a nice hard hit now pien the other end.
its about the same as makeing your own rivites. a bit more work but it saves money.
