That could be bad... Thor. What this thread is telling me, though, is that many of the SCA chiv (there's a LOT) who post, read/lurk here either consider themselves blameless, or are else too wimpy to fess up to their more asinine moments. Good thing you're not asking them to 'fess up to their social...

When I get down I think of the friends and family that keep me going in the SCA. Good luck in ALL your endeavors. Thor. After some issues this past fall I pretty much divorced myself from the SCA. It no longer held any more love for me after 25+ years and was a damn harsh mistress with little return...

I have done both, all for the same reason, all with the same end result. Some learn through pain, some through persuasion. I am not above reproach, I am flawed. In my mind a Knight must be able to dispense justice, whether it be by the sword or the word. It is never a easy decision to make, but We g...

I did several fights with a man from out West at Pennsic with the intent to cause him pain/not to injure, after he said and did things to discouraged a female fighter who is a friend of mine. He treated her like shit and belittled her on the field. My sin was Wrath. The fallowing day wearing a compl...

All it takes for evil to prosper is for good men to do nothing... If you continue to do nothing, they will continue to prosper. If speaking my mind for truth and justice will get my squires into trouble I would release them of their burden. Justice must win the day. Thor. I confess I am a coward. Th...

Huh, This makes no sense to me. People cheat it paintball all the time for victory. It's why I quit playing. Cheaters prospered, and they should not be able to do so. Chivalry dictates that we fight against that. In this game we hope and trust that our opponent is honorable and calls their blows but...

Then how is it different on any other legal target, not just your head. Remember as we get older and or fight more we desensitized to the damage we take on bare flesh shots. Some spots are much harder to bruise than they used to... same with your pain receptors. Thor. I am tired of seeing a giant li...

I am the Trimarian Earl Marshal. I would have no problem with them at all as long as they don't stick out 3 inches and don't come to a sharp point. If the tip is rounded just a bit it might be better for inter Kingdom events. As I cannot guarantee other Kingdoms approval, I would go to bat for these...

Read William Marshal the flower of Chivalry. It talks about his combat as he road into a group of 40 knights to save a future King. He lived. Armor works or it would not be worn. As weapons got better so did the armor. But you already know this... Thor. Armour really works against real weapons. And ...

It was, it's over, thrust away Thor. looks like a ton of fun. still trying to figure out the rules. there is no thrusting? I hate that. If you can't thrust, you leave out a good part of the skills set to finish fights. I think in the SCA , well Trimaris. Thrusting isn't allowed in tourneys. I am not...

Well said!!! Thor, I would submit that a man be allowed to chose his own name, and gain wordfame by his own hand to supplement (not replace) that which he has chosen. That said, the Midrealm Tanist is Arch Teryx. And He need not justify His name to anyone, for His glaive and His inspiration, Princes...

Because I am a Knight of Trimaris and a Peer of the Realm. This game is bigger than just one kingdom. These rules are not for the person who IS trying, it's to back us up with those who are NOT trying. We do everything we can to no disenfranchise people from our hobby but some just don't get it or p...

We need the rules to back up the Peer pressure for those who don't care about Peer pressure. Rules lawyers will pick crap apart if you don't. I had to tell two people this weekend that this is their warning about exposed plastic. #1 was a Knight, #2 has been fighting for 15 or 20 years. Both were ve...

Who is the Knight in black with ermine spots
I met him a few years ago at Pennsic. We had good conversations by the pic up field. I am horrible with remembering names.
Thor.

I am of the opinion that EVERY practice is a public demo, somebody is going to see us for the first time and you only get 1 first impression. Thor. Someone actually suggested that a good grace period would be to only enforce at events, not practices. Also, a 6 month grace period wouldn't be an issue.
