Is there any way I could get a closer picture of the tent heads shown earlier? I really want to take my current wedge and make an A frame for it but I refuse to do so until I have a good pattern to use for the tent heads. I was also wondering if someone could show how the walls are tied down as well...

I've had my wedge at pennsic for several years. Even during some really nasty windstorms. The surplus military tent 20 feet away went down. My wedge stayed up. It is mostly knowing how to get your tent set up is what I see. That and aerodynamics. Wedges and yurt like round tents are going to have gr...

I actually did a single test of a waxed linen paned latern. While it did provide decent light it also provided a wonderful excuse to get myself a new fire extingusher as well. Seeing as I had heard that it might be flammable I set it in the middle of nothing on a concrete floor in the basement, lit ...

Can't be Gwen. To many teeth showing. (I apologize to hockey fans and players but the door was opened. I just had to step through.) I have to say that personally I play pretty much how Olafr said. Sure some of what I do is romanticized. Most of what I try to do is period. I'm not perfect. I disagree...

Olaf. I know that you've made a succesful pair of turnshoes. I'll help you with the Viborg shirt if you'll help me with a pair of turnshoes. *Laughs* Thank you all very much for the information about the pendant. I'll have to fix this immediately. One question about the skirting though on the Viborg...

I can see where most ideas are thought of on our modern experiences. Now the question is he talking about needing a water source while on campaign or is he traveling by himself for some reason? I would think that anyone traveling by themself would want some form of water container. If in a large gro...

As interpretation changes of the artifacts so do the interpretations about culture and lifestyle. I can deal with that. There is very little that can change about most of the things I use though. We know for a fact what the weapons looked like (basically). We know what the armour looked like though ...

For my historical information I trust 3 things. Archeaologist in the field. (Prosser Dan Carlsson has a mailing list.) Museum workers who do the cleaning work on artifacts. Last but not least the Artifacts. No offense. But I just don't trust much online. Even the information I get on here I triple c...

I don't use Wikipedia. Ever. I refuse. I'm one of those people that barely trusts the information I get from the Britannica books which means a site where people can edit it as they want is never going to be acceptable. I did try to google it but it was very very late (about 4:30 am) and I'm not sur...

Olaf. I've seen you fight. Maybe you could drop the shield and pull that off. I know your Master can. Me? Well you've seen me. Fat and slow...I don't drop my shield unless I'm forced to. But if you think I can get away with it then I'll have to remember that. I'll see about making a saex as well the...

Ok...After reading this thread probably a dozen times I think I'm sorted out for now. Basically I should stick with riveted chain with a conical helm with nasal. Brass work on said helm is acceptable. Padding should be thick woolen tunics but will probably be replaced with a quilted gambeson that is...
