Fortunately in another thread I posted the question concerning the location of my persona and someone told me about the burning of Birka in the tenth century so I had already decided to move to either Hedeby or Sigtuna. Concering social status. The basic is a fairly rich merchant with a good sized f...

I'd rather step on the field and have people say "there is a rich norseman" but I know everyone is going to think viking. From the pictures you referenced it looked like he had a conical with nasal. The bar grill was under it but he had the chain aventail over it so that it was fully hidden. Used a ...

Not Rus. No offense. Just not rus. I'll probably stick with Birka then. Thanks for that. As long as it was a trade center during the 11th century.

Location question

I have heard alot about both Birka and Heddeby. Both seem to be very important cities. The problem I have is that it seems like both get called "the trade center". Which one is the major trading center from about 1016-1049? My entire kit is based on living in a major trade city for the Norse during ...

Norse Armour

Hi there. Its been a long time since I've asked a question here. But my recent decision to never step on the field in armour that isn't correct has decreed that I get some help. I know that chain was used during my time period but I was wondering at any other documentable forms of armour used. If no...

My primary is my viking obviously. Another persona is Iwakawa Kumatarou Arimasa. A ronin from the Kamakura p...

Malcolm in this I must agree. Dying to a bowmen who is using a long bow is something I accept hardily and accept as a feat of skill. Dying to a guy with a crossbow is just annoying. This is a terribly misdirected sentiment. The game of being a knight belongs to the knights, and it is they who set the standards. If you don't want to be a knight, then following your own path will have no consequence on your fun quotient. Damning them for failing to reward what they have deemed u...

There are only 3 choices for an Icelander of the 11th century that I have found.

Maille. Lamellar. 4 or 5 layers of tightly woven wool and lots of praying. You don't really get much choice unfortunately.

Steve. The negative connotation is only with some knights. Similar to the knights I've met who hate polearms. I live in Aethelmearc. The knight who I rent from is very good man. Considered a shining example of knighthood by many of his peers in the Order. Not only does he not mind CA he's actually p...
