Definitely. I think the close-fitting one will be especially well-suited for your heraldry. The examples at http://larsdatter.com/mens-surcoats.htm will certainly help you consider the placement of the cinquefoils & stripes on a white surcoat (or jupon, or whatever) :)

m is a list of women's names from around that time, but it does provide some useful sources in the bibliography. You could also check out m and/or m -- and maybe m if you want to consider the Italian and/or Latin version of a name (several of the given names in there are clearly of Norman derivation).
