My fluting tool is of the same general design as Halberds', and I think it's great. I have several sets of "punches and dies" for it that I've accumulated as new needs have arisen. The design is sort of "self'feeding". I don't have any real problem with the work bouncing around, ...

There are several items to touch on here-number one is that $10/square foot is more than you should pay for STAINLESS, never mind mild. I would guess that you didn't get quoted for a "drop", but for a purpose-cut piece, which is always way more expensive, expeshally for smaller pieces. If ...

Hey, Pitbull, thanks for the pics. I'd actually hoped that it was one of the low-slung heavy ones. They're meant for serious forging. For fastening soft materials like leather, the diameter of the washer should be, ideally, about the same as the head of the rivet. That way, you have equal strength whichever way the joint gets pulled. That said, I certainly prefer that the washer be a light force-fit on copper rivets. This allows y...

Don't worry Mattmaus-most of us are in that boat. :P

I can make them with other shank sizes-I was actually thinking that if I reduced them to 1/8", it would make setting them easier, with less chance of deforming the head part.

And, yep, they're a direct leading-up to your klapvissier.

Remember that "Heavy Duty Leather Bench Punch"?

I finally got the web page up for it:

http://clang.adkinssoftware.com/tool%20 ... %2001.html

Arbor press modified for leather-work. It's really a great tool-quietly punches holes with very little effort, even in very heavy leather, sets eyelets and snaps, etc. As always, comments/suggestions are welcome.
