i train with ARMA and we do still make extensive use of wooden wasters. Most of them get them from wooden weapons, I however have a purpleheart- which has worked great for me. Go on over to the ARMA forum and ask around - there are a few other brands that people are experementing with. As far as I k...

Your wards arent going to be any different from I.33. There is no 'best ward' as they all have areas they cover well and areas that are more open. The key is to know where you can go from your ward, what your opponents weapon can do from their ward and what you can do to counter his attack or counte...

Im confused as to what you are reffering to a "modern field of combat". Usually this would mean how could you apply it to something you might use in self defence or a bar fight or something like that. I cant see any situation where you would just happen to have a sword and buckler available to defen...

I totally agree with the above. Which is the best one?" gets ...

one of my theories about the Mac bible feats and the such is a comparison to Sports Center. We want to see the highlighs, the amazing dunk, the last second 3, the hat trick, the 93 yard kick return for touchdown. Obviously we know that there were dozens of 5 foot jumpers, missed passes, off sides an...

Hooray for real weapons!!! Im glad to oblige! m Italy, 1540 m m There are many cousins and relatives to the glaive out there. the other thing to keep in mind is that the 'gauge' of steel wasnt as uniform as it is now. We can easily get a sheet of perfect 16 gauge steel - whereas back in the day there would be spots in the steel that was thinner than others- creating weak points . That and what we can tell from existing ant...

Yeah 80cms is a touch on the short side. It should be around 90 or so. Still, you might have abit more speed on if since its shorter and it might help to beat those bigger shields your asking about. You really should study I.33 - oldest known fight manual. It's all arming sword and buckler. Only pro...

By antiques I meant surviving bucklers actually used back in the day. There arent many cause shields took a beating- but from those that are around we can make better estimates to exact measurements. Another big question is what kind of sword are you using? The buckler has been one of the most sucse...

Yeah, slightly. What is it made out of? The big advantage of using a buckler over larger shields is that its much faster. If you look at all the historical manuals that show buckler use, the vast majority of the guards are with the buckler held straight our away from your body. Try that with a 4lbs ...
