Any blow well timed,

The best fighters I’ve seen don’t do anything exotic. They do simple blows and combinations of blows at just the right time.

Also, elbow pain can be an indication that your hands and forearms need to be strengthened. A combination of hand strengthening and always aplying ice after I fight has done wonders for me.

I believe what Murdock is refering to is tournament held at/with a funeral. I'm not aware of any. I'd bounce it off the Tourney Company list, though. Based on the description of your fighting and the reported results though, I think your group is getting the closest to the level of risk that went into actual medieval foot tournaments though. The mechanics and appearance might be off, but the risk element is missed by most other groups.
