Split down the middle length ways. Cut the resulting pieces to , say, 1 inch lengths (depending on size of pipe), flatten slightly, drill fixing holes and smooth the edges etc, a little shaping - you've got great copper scales for armour. Worked for me - no pics unfortunately.

Bevor guage (SCA)

What guage steel should be used for a bevor in SCA combat - 16 or thicker? Or is 18 allowable. Can't seem to find this, but am assuming it has to be 16 or thicker.

Yeah - thanks! My confidence in purchasing armour etc is a lot lower than before I joined the archive - this has saved me from making some bad buys! :D

I think the visor lowers fully, it's just the way he's posed the helm.

I'm always tempted when I see these, for the "Wow!" factor of having a suit of it. I'd be worried about fighting in it though

Thoughts on this sallet?

Looks pretty good to me. Not sure about the highly visible weld inside.
Anyone recognize this? Know the armourer/seller?

Most amusing dance was on my apprenticeship. One of the mechanical appos (grease monkey) about 17, decided it would be cool to burn the leather off of his boots, as had others, exposing the steel toecap. In the welding room/ forge he takes an acetylene torch, whacks it up full and hot, puts foot on ...

That reminds me of the time I knocked a soldering iron off the bench and reflexively grabbed for it. Unfortunately I caught it............and yes, the "hand on fire" dance was vigorous and long, and many were the "words of colourful utterance" that created the chant to which the dance was danced. If...
