dark age/ early medieval leather jerkin?

I've been asked if I can make
a thick leather jerkin-type thing, suitable for Regia, to go over mail and a jack.


Any idea if such a garment existed and where one might go to find a pattern or similar?

Regia, if you don't know, covers roughly 950AD - 1150AD. This gentleman is a Saxon, IIRC.

I've seen those - like 'em a lot! Want a solid bevor rather than the grill. I'd order from them but thay're not delivering until November on orders taken now. Too impatient to wait that long!

Trying to picture this myself but could do with some advice.
How do you make a visored sallet and bevor SCA combat proof? Is it okay the hstorical way, or does the bevor need extra fastening to the helm/visor?

Nice, possibly a bit late, as you say. Biggest problem - 1.3mm steel. Too thin for SCA :sad:
