So, to answer Vladimirs question, what do you think he should be charging for such a helm?

Oh yeah, sorry guys - forgot. HOTW, asteeley and anyone else, feel free to use this. I can scan the templates (again roughish prototypes!) and post if you wish. Regarding straps - could have put them on, but A) was feeling lazy B) didn't have any nice buckles, just some cheap-ass ones. However, repl...

Hi Tim - Cheers! Glad you like. Yes proto. But the riveting definitely needs improvement. An edging/border tool is on the cards. They wear pretty well, even without padding and don't hamper arm movement. As for sturdy, yep! Pretty thick leather I think they sneak into the SCA ruling of "rigid materi...

Thanks asteeley - I'll bear that in mind.

Hal - I put together the page script using Frontpage, as a webpage, then flicked to the HTML and cut and pasted it. All I do is change the description. Pics are done the normal ebay way.

Thanks for the kind words and useful hints and tips. I'm encouraged.
These are straight into the wax, no dye. I was quite surprised the first time I waxed this leather, at the change in colour, which I rather like. Polishes up well too.

Cheers

Not sure about Josh's maille, but I know that my hauberk will resist a full force stab to the chest with a heavy bladed, sharp knife! Mind you, it's butted spring steel washers (square section, about 1.25mm) I think the point nicked my gamby, but not much. Mind you - the darn thing weighs 63 pounds....

munitions" LH *grade* crap

What? As opposed to plastic/aluminium SCA grade crap?
Wanker!

Edit - Not a snipe at the SCA (I do it too) just object to a glorified cutlery merchant having a go a other peoples work.

Okay - more acceptable alternative. More expensive though.
Get a body suit - one of those flesh-tone lycra/nylon outfits used for "nude" scenes in some films/plays.
Just trying to help.

Make full sleeves out of panty-hose (tights) or stockings - that way you can get a reasonable match on colour. Using the thicker "Granny" grade ones will eliminate some of the "sheer" problems. You could also use over leg armour as well, of course.
