It is - made and used by Will. He gave it to someone else, who didn't need it. I acquired it, but since I don't joust, due to riding a horse slightly less well than another horse would, I decided to offer it up, in order to raise funds for something shiny that I will use! (I can just about manage a ...

Pics here give some idea. It can be a fairly custom thing, depending on your harness, preference and size of ecranche - the one in these pics is pretty large!

When new straps are attached there should be provision for a strap with a buckle that goes under the spaulder and buckles onto the shoulder strap of the back & breast (the ecranche lies on top of course) and then another strap that straps around your upper arm. I'll try and get p...

Ecranche (Jousting Targe/shield) AUCTION

Okay - what we have here is a (used) leather-backed steel ecranche. Not sure if I want to auction, sell or trade it as I've no idea what the going rate would be. It's made by a professional armourer from what I guess to be mild steel (might be a different steel, but we'll stick with mild for the mom...

Therion Arms has one - http://therionarms.com/reenact/com162.html

Basically a fairly broad-blade, long spear-head, with little taper along most of it's length, to the best of my knowledge.

Painted armour - yes or no?

search function doesn't like the phrase "painted armour" , no prizes for guessing why. I know a lot of sallets were painted and I can find various references etc online saying that armour was often painted. So - late 15th century plate harness - okay to paint it (all of it)? Yes or no?
