I have the impression - not sure from where, might be a fictional book, so no flaming - that they tended to be non-archer Welsh, probably from the north or the Marches. Light infantry, mounted for mobility and lightly armed, used to in conjunction with archers.

Alginate and plaster bandages - both relatively cheap. Very easy. A helper would be useful. VERY good reproduction and then you can cast a solid plaster model of legs or other parts. Plaster doesn't stick to alginate when casting, which is useful. Can supply full method if you wish. It's what I woul...

Plate armour's military usefulness outlived that of the longbow. The accounts of the battles of Brouwershaven and Flodden, aas well as the later writings of Sir John Smythe are particularly damning to the argument that the longbow was a great armour piercer. As Mike Garret says, after the tail end ...

This point has no doubt been made already, but wasn't the fearsome reputation of the English/Welsh warbow gained during the 100 years war, an era of transitional armour, ie more maille and less plate? So less complete coverage by solid metal. I'm perfectly willing to accept that arrows loosed at gen...

Going to knees I agree is ugly and odd. Would it not serve as weel if the legged opponent was deemed to be rooted to the spot and unable to move? Arguably this might suit some people, most I think would find it a pain in the backside to be immobile. Currently, if I have one the advantage - and I usu...

I believe I'm correct in saying that in this context a bichorn is a type of anvil.
Not sure about the sword. Remember that what is being described here is preparation for a tourney. No doubt most knights would have had several squires/pages and also sumpter mules, possibly a cart.

So basically and arming doublet and voiders etc is more correct for the period. So the voiders were worn over the arming doublet? I have a question on helms for early 15th Cent gothic harnesses. Were they made with any other helms besides salets? Bellows fronts perhaps? Well, around the mid 15th you have the Barbute. Prior to that I believe (but not 100% sure) that you were in an evolution period from bascinets to later helms...

Regarding "gap-fillers" - what you are looking for are voiders, astandard and a fauld. Modelled by my mate Will West (these are his own) on the GDFB website here - http://www.gdfb.co.uk/acatalog/GDFB_Maille_1300ad_1500ad.html Although you may well be able to them them elsewhere, this is the only pla...
