I think you are looking for one of the variations of a HENNIN.

Alginate and plaster bandages - both relatively cheap. Very easy. A helper would be useful. VERY good reproduction and then you can cast a solid plaster model of legs or other parts. Plaster doesn't stick to alginate when casting, which is useful. Can supply full method if you wish. It's what I woul...

I seem to be able to access the website OK most of the time, but what's folks experience with Armour and Castings? Is it a reputable outfit? I have found them to be excellent in communication, quality and price. Sometimes delays with shipping but I believe that's the postal service. http://forums.a...

Plate armour's military usefulness outlived that of the longbow. The accounts of the battles of Brouwershaven and Flodden, aas well as the later writings of Sir John Smythe are particularly damning to the argument that the longbow was a great armour piercer. As Mike Garret says, after the tail end ...

This point has no doubt been made already, but wasn't the fearsome reputation of the English/Welsh warbow gained during the 100 years war, an era of transitional armour, ie more maille and less plate? So less complete coverage by solid metal. I'm perfectly willing to accept that arrows loosed at gen...

Going to knees I agree is ugly and odd. Would it not serve as weel if the legged opponent was deemed to be rooted to the spot and unable to move? Arguably this might suit some people, most I think would find it a pain in the backside to be immobile. Currently, if I have one the advantage - and I usu...

Ok thanks! Hose - with braies, arming doublet - no shirt, regular period footwear I believe but with points to attach sabotons. - Was the hose only attached to the braies or were there also extra bands (garters) at the knees like on the picture below?: m - And where can you get good period footwear...

So basically and arming doublet and voiders etc is more correct for the period. So the voiders were worn over the arming doublet? And if you buy these, how do you make sure the harness will fit with it? Because these parts are often sold by different vendors, or will they all fit in without any pro...

I have a question on helms for early 15th Cent gothic harnesses. Were they made with any other helms besides salets? Bellows fronts perhaps? Well, around the mid 15th you have the Barbute. Prior to that I believe (but not 100% sure) that you were in an evolution period from bascinets to later helms...

Thanks for the info Juhani! Mail was still indeed used in the late 15th century, and sometimes shirts of maille were still worn under plate armour, but probably more often they wore these kinds of gap fillers which were pointed to arming doublet I have a haubergeon, would it be accurate to wear a g...

Regarding "gap-fillers" - what you are looking for are voiders, astandard and a fauld. Modelled by my mate Will West (these are his own) on the GDFB website here - http://www.gdfb.co.uk/acatalog/GDFB_Maille_1300ad_1500ad.html Although you may well be able to them them elsewhere, this is the only pla...
