It's lighter than mine! (mine weighs in at about 60 lb - approx 30kg) Not sure about your neck line at the front - I think that exposes too much. Mine is higher and squarer, a little like the back of yours. You have some nice pieces on your site. I' particularly like the sallet with bevor (termed on...

Just to add that I have a 4in1 spring steel Hauberk, butted (actually made with square section spring steel washers, and not by me, too much hard work). Anyway - for those that are concerned over having to repair butted maille I have found with spring steel it just doesn't happen! I purchased my hau...

POLITE REQUEST - PICTURES/PHOTOS ASKED FOR.......
My good lady is doing a short course on the history of costume (ranging from Sumeria to present day) If anyone has any pictures/photos they could send me - especially of themselves or friends in costume for any of these periods I would be extremely grateful, as would Julie. Also the other ladies on ...

Orc. That bargrill and your poleaxe - did that incident get investigated? It was discussed. It came about fighting poleaxe/poleaxe and the gentleman and myself have a tendency to get into fairly intricate and convoluted "dances". Extremely good fighting fun. Somehow the pa managed to get twisted up...

It's a concern I personally have just avoided injuring another figther when I somehow managed to get the butt end of a poleaxe inside the bargrill on his bascinet I'm looking for as period as possible (mid/late 15th) so a barbute offers good vision and breathing, whilst remaining period and relative...

Illusion Armoury T faced Barbute Question (SCA)
IA have a T faced barbute (SCA style grill - which is fairly minimal and unobstrusive). Looking at it, I wonder if it fulfills the helm requirements, as there is no grill going under the chin. Comments? I like this helm and am considering ordering, but don't want to have to start modding it. http://...

Re: Height and Weight Averages in History
Good Morrow, I explained that the Battle of Towton graves showed a height average of about 5'8" or 5'9". I was dismissed because that information wasn't accurate... -Aaron How the devil can archaelogical evidence, measuring many skeletons, be inaccurate? What was Towton - extremely tall (for period...

Indeed, Anglo-Saxons were as big or bigger on average, than currently. Henry VIII was 6 foot I believe, Edward I (Longshanks) was 6' 1". John O' Gaunt was an impressive 6' 8" (possibly 9") - I have a picture of myself, next to his armour in the Tower - would have been real "eek!" to fight against. T...
