It's a proof of effective teaching when the students are capable of cutting with the same techniques as the teacher did. They were all successful and improved in their mechanism.

Testing a new cut.
For those who have cut newspapers rolls before, they will understand the difficulty of using the small cutting motion against such free hanging target with the over 3" diameter. Thus, that's what the test was about.
