I think 20-25 bucks for a weekend (camping + food + water + facilities +etc...) is a great deal. I would run you close to this each night at a campground that wouldn't even feed you. Juneau

We are generally keeping event costs to $5.00 for site fees and $20.-25. with feast locally but with food and site cost creeping up this will probably have to go up too. We are already bypassing some much nicer sites due to costs. Even with these relatively low prices and Juneau's relatively high pa...

m OK that posted kind of huge but at least you can really see some detail! He is definitely a Landsknecht ('X's, hair, manly beer paunch, and hairy bare thighs) and wearing a peacock feather in his red hat. Otherwise most of what you (Thanks Jason) shows white ostrich feathers and red and black hats...

JvR - Wvk is right. Just get started as you can and use your sallet. You might get lucky and find another helm later. A Reiter is not much less appropriate than a Landsknecht persona in the SCA in the end and both take some work arounding. That not using shields thing, the SCA "indestructible&...

Looks like Sallet is out. Looks like black and white armor is out. I do remember seeing some museum pics of black and white kits and them posing them to be holding pike as if they were setting them to receive a charge. I am still confused. I keep finding tons of Landsknecht pike man armor pics that are black and white. Who wore the black and white armors with burgeonets? Landsknechts or Reitters? There were a lot of Rieters running around France:

There was the run away Landsknecht black legion distinct because they were only permitted to wear black and one primary color. otherwise they wore basically the same armor as other landsknechts.
