schedule

m When would this Deed be scheduled? What is reasonable length for mace anyway? Is there anyone from whom I might be able to bum a tolerable long poleaxe? Just getting armour there from Alaska will be a challenge. Does anyone here know if there is a pas d'Armes , apart from this Deed, planned at GW?

start somewhere

At the risk of committing thread necromancy yet again on this thread, I figured I'd bring this one back up. After a couple failed attempts at even finding some SCA people near me, I've finally located some! And I'm also contemplating pretty much the same persona - an Engish Archer from around the m...

calendar

I see that We have a spiffy new calendar but the links to the event flyers are not working yet so:

http://oertha.westkingdom.org/Calendar/WC2009.html

And more contest details are at:

There are serious weather issues such as high winds and glazed ice roads so be careful and use your best judgment.

Since you are just starting you might want to pick up: m The Best of the Hammer series is also a good resource to start with and other folks here might have a better source for these books. Have you met any local armourers there in the SCA? They will tend to have some talent at budget scrounging for...

Oerthan Coronet & video of finals

There has been some confusion about the upcoming Oerthan Coronet List that was apparently published with the tournaments backwards. We have placed no weapons restrictions on the Coronet list in order to facilitate maximum entry since it is hard enough just to travel at this time of year. The tournam...

LF - archer's knees prices

One of our local fighters is looking for the best price on a pair of archer's knees. Since he also lives in Juneau he would prefer stainless.

A good, loud, fast paced Master of Ceremonies. Good, fun, period style scenarios like a pas d'Ames. that opens and closes with melees. More focus on the fighting than just the trophy. Torches so that the youngsters can have pick up fights as long as they want with a few side matches. Cool, photograp...
