armour points
That the archers at Agincort pierced armor with arrows from their longbows... Good point. That a fallen knight could not get up on his own. That a peasant with a quarterstaff could beat an armoured knight. You should have a "proofed" breastplate for folks who put too much trust in handguns.

Decisions, decisions. Let's see what I can pack in a 50# bag. While the Company is rooted in the Hundred Years War with most of the members in 14th C. kits, we do not discourage the attendance of noble combatants who happen to wear a later OR earlier period kit. But we do ask that the kit be as peri...

Add Sir Mons to cool person list.
I can not tell you how much I am looking forward to this tournament. I have been going into pas d'Armes withdrawal. Gauntlets, no problem but I do have to be a bum and beg long weapons. We, the Company of St. George, will be hosting a Pas d'Armes at 12 Noon on Friday, October 10 at GWW XI in the St,...

Thank you for the good news. Who is hosting it? Is there a web site or flyer? I need to beg weapons since I can not fly with much. I hope to meet folks (and be rescued from West Royal Encampment). the Co. of St. George usually sponsors an armored pas at GWW. I hear from a good source that will defin...

It all comes back to Landsknecht
m I have always liked this picture of the table, pavilion, chests, and armour. My guess is that the square notch in the side of the small table section is so that it can be removed, has a cross board, and can be flipped around to make an attached bench. I have seen a similar 18th century version.

Besides what's on this site, can anyone tell me what this war is like? Weather? pas d'Armes? Merchants? Food? What is nearby? How many bodies in armour?
Who all is planning on going?

Although opinions differ, I do not pad my armour except for the helm and joints, as required. Plate works pretty well for me by itself. You might be able to turn the saddle pad into a fauld or thighs. If you are concerned about padding your breastplate try gluing a thin layer of foam, felt, or quilt...

Gun shops or ask for old tire weights and melt them down in an old coffee can on a BBQ grill, outside. Scrape out the steel clips and slag then let is set up into a convenient shape or even on a post for armouring.

Best paint for a metal shield?
It has been so long since I painted my shield (and it showed) that I cannot remember what paint I used. What are folks' favorite paints for a primed AND unprimable aluminum shield? I have flat white primer on it right now and need to paint the Oerthan device (on the left) on it until January then it...

I have had luck with a bowyer out of Alabama for my 35 nieces and nephews. Tommy Clontz has been fast and very reasonable; $20 . for simple kids' long bows 12-25# range and $50-65. for laminated wood (cherry/hickory) longbows. These are good, pretty, traditional starter bows for kids (or adults). Si...

Schloss Langenburg in Germany had a similar set up to what Thomas mentioned. One large 10'x10' raised (waist high) brick fireplace with a large copper shroud and chimney over it. Of course there were pirates before 1600 but Barbarossa (brothers) were some of the only ones well documented. Caused so much trouble that the Pope had to resort to Landsknechts to beat them.
