Re: SCA rules question

So we've seen a clear example that even a perfectly clear and obvious pictorial example can be a source of confusion. The image had three colors, the meaning of two of them was defined. Makes for a problem when some goober decides that the black area means whatever he wants it to mean. As to the OP...

Ok I know I shouldn't bring it up ...... But having just looked at the polypropylene sword thread . I have to ask. Could we use polypropylene to make a shaped sword? starting with a 1 1/2" or 2" piece. don't care either way just curious. No. No. No. (you are not the first to ask.) The tes...

Re: SCA rules question

As SEM I have a simple job, make rules that fit, Kings, Dukes, and Bobs. For fighters, fencers, equestrians too, Tiny ones, average ones, and some that go "moo"! The rules are the same wherever you go, break them and reap the doom you did sow. You all should play nice and not be too thick!...

Dear SEM, This is why we need a picture book on what is legal and what is not. Could we work on one on the Archive? I posted a thread a long time ago about it, but it died faster than a prize winning turkey on a rifle range on Thanksgiving morning during "full auto day". -Aaron umm... sur...

I can allow the punching of wooden badgers with SEM preapproved specially designed wooden badger punching gauntlets.
I'll write it in on your card.

MOL was not at troll this year. When I got there the event fighting was cancelled and it was a big fun practice day. So, uneven sides was just a happenstance of a very mucky day. I spent my time in excellent discussions and drinking apple pie moonshine with friends. (and a few of Tessa's jellow shots)

I dont think you should quit. How does your family have so many events? What if you plan things almost a year in advance? go to 5-6 events, but say "In july i will be at X. its january now." I realize every one says "family comes first" But at what point do they also understand ...

While I agree with the rule, I cannot help but think that they would not have gotten cut if they had been wearing armour for a game of armoured combat. Welts are a bit different. I'm sure that each individual was wearing minimum armor. I'm not going to get individualistic on this. The rules are cle...

Planed sword edges

Just something to remember: while planing thick rattan down to make a flat sided weapon, remember that the edge may NOT come to anything resembling a point. From Marshal's Handbook: 8. The edges and tips of all striking surfaces shall be rounded. AND 10. It shall not be possible to force any part of...

When I made my first plywood shield I nailed a 10 speed tire arounrd the edge to protect it.
First hit, 5 nails shot out in every direction.

You need to remove the brass nails. Remove them from any part that may strike the opponent in use. They can work loose and gouge someone or fly out into eyes. The ones in the handle are fine if it doesn't have a buttspike. I realize it wouldn't be perfect for this look, but you could use metal as l...

Erm.. you can't prove a negative, dude. Just show me a link. news story. article. Court document. _ANYTHING_. I heard you rape baby giraffes. Prove it's not true. The giraffes were not babies and they shouldn't dress that way if they don't want attention. Anything can be proven, prove it cannot!

And sorry, "it's not on snopes" isn't proof. Yes it is. It's only proof that it's not on snopes. Snopes is very consistent and there are even threads on there where people are trying to prove it's false with no luck. So, since you insisted that it was false without proof, I insist that it...
