Re: Legal fist weapons?
Bingo! Alright well half a kudo for that anyway...for now. It is simply easier to just say "these items are forbidden" and call it a day but I agree with checking the details. I think it was simply an error. we haven't used them for so long I guess we all just got used to the idea that the...

Re: Kingdom Fencer Numbers
I'm curious (okay, I'm a database and reporting junkie...it's what I do for a living). It *should* be possible using the various Kingdom Authorization Databases (if they are well designed at all) to determine precise numbers of how many are authorized in just armored, just rapier, or both. I'd real...

Re: Kingdom Fencer Numbers
Running a comparison of the overall numbers, it appears that the rapier combatants makes up 30% of the overall number of authorized combatants in the society. Every 2-1/3 authorized fighters = 1 authorized duelist. What about individuals who are authorized in both forms? That skews things a bit. I ...

Yes, we do it at the Tuchux battle, which is a single event with a separate ruleset. The Tuchux charity tournament does NOT have any dispensation for any non-SCA rules. It MUST be run according to our rules and will be shut down if it attempts to do so. This is the way it is as long as it is held o...

yah i used "padded" to mean "covered". but i have to ask, so rounding a piece of plywood makes it less likely to damage rattan than leaving the factory edge on it? really? it doesnt of course but its odd that we would have a rule like this and not one against some of these helms...

another failure of our rules is that we have a rule that states the edge of a shield must be padded with something to protect rattan. then, when i went out with a shield made of wood, only wood, i had a couple of marshals argue that i had to have it padded. nevermind that i can chop through plywood...

(considering there's likely a fair number of people that already do it but don't want to make the same amount of noise as me to make it fully legal)? I think this part of the premise is false. In which case the Crown is the top link on the chain of command. True. Once the individual refuses to leave the field and combat is stopped and the Marshallate resources are exhausted, the Seneschals can be called to have the individual leave site. At this point, the Crown being the authority that ...

Wish I'd had that at Gulf Wars. Unfortunately the only way to really "clean up" the list is to start over with a complete reissuing of cards. With a volunteer base, that's a lot of work to askof someone. Also, we are reluctant to consider our friends and mentors who have been out a while as "inactive" or take t...
