I think its totally worth grinding off the rivets for the top cap and make a new one. When I am making complex stuff I pattern new peices as i go along because of stuff not aligning as you want.

Make it SCA legal and sell it for a ton hehe.

with a helmet that nice you should remove that top cap and make a new one,i think that extra detail would be worth it.

For the chain try bending out the nasal alittle more,it will hang better and the profile will look alittle better i think.

Basically it seems it should fit someone 6ft3inches down to 5ft9inches. with upto...

New style for my hinged knee muscled greaves.

I finished a set of my new hinged knee muscled greaves, these are out of aluminum. I added more definition to the muscling,a center ridge down the shin and extended them down the sides of the foot/ankle. I believe this is a far better looking product. These will run $300 [img]http://i241.photobucket....

if you have a grinder of some sort then just flatten the heads on the rivets,no need to buy flat head rivets if you dont have the money and want some good strong rivets.

we already did the extra welding. I am waiting to see how the thing sounds when its working to see if filling the back rectangular beam is necessary. We are gonna make the base out of a bunch of 4x4's of wood to avoid breaking the concrete beneath the hammer.

the arm from the piston is sunk into the the plate that is the mount for the hammer and then welded, its a more stable design then the one that we based this off of and the original has held up for a long time. For the dyes we got 3inch round bar cut to a 3 inch length made out of high carbon steel. ...

My new toy,powered hammer.

Well the powered hammer was delivered the other day. We still need to add the trip switch slide and run all the air lines. I cant wait to use it. BTW the weight of the hammer is 45 to 50lbs,yes its gonna be a brutal beast but i will be making a small version of it also. [img]http://i241.photobucket....

looking for aluminum riveted chain individual links

I just got a riveted aluminum chain shirt and it has some broken links in it. I also would like brass or bronze that I can add to the bottom of the shirt. If anyone knows a site for this then i would appreciate it.

my advice as an armorer and once very poor fighter is get the materials you can afford and try to use the best patterns. Usually patterns that are meant for plastic are almost all the time an inferior pattern. You can make almost all samurai armor with black plastic and laces and throw in some silk/...

if the gauntlets were made of alot less parts or the many parts had alot more dishing or flutes then it would be able to hold up to combat. I know weight is an issue but compromising your safety isnt worth it,because everyone works with their hands.
