So i need a solid steel ball to replace the shot put,its 4.5inches so i wanna get one thats between 4 and 5inches in diameter. The harder the better but i suppose i could case harden a regular m...

after welding in patches your gonna have to sand and polish the area again,if it doesnt have an effect on the outside then your weld deep enough and didnt stick.

Re: Taking orders: Kydex Corazinna kits. (now w/ pics)
why kydex and not abs? i know abs is alittle brittle where it will crack at a rivet hole with some abuse if the hole is within 1 inch of the edge. does kydex resist cracking more? does it have more shock resistance?

Re: Taking orders: Kydex Corazinna kits. (now w/ pics)
For rivets you can get aluminum brazier head rivets, they are soft so peening them is easy. I am gonna get 3/16" rivets that are 1/2" long and washers. I have a place in san diego thats really cheap i go to(united fasteners) but online you can order them from http://www.rjleahy.com/ and at $9 for 443...

Re: churburg style body armor?
I have never worn a later period breastplate, been fighting as greek for the last 16yrs and have only made a couple. one was for costume and the other has the gussets which made it very maneuverable for the customer. Cant see the gussets very well but they are there. http://a8.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hp...

Ok it looks like i am getting the corazinna plates from sean and the more i look around the more i see corazinnas with what looks like more plates for better articulation. I will cut the chest inward some and add in gussets for mor flexibility. I think this is gonna work out. Thanks for the help guy...

Re: churburg style body armor?
well i kinda want to make something that has a period plate pattern in it. a corazinna would be to restrictive without alot of modifactions to the upper chest, though they do look cool. I am use to not really having anything that gets in the way in the upper chest no matter if leaning forward or to t...

Re: churburg style body armor?
yeah i considered a corazinna but i dont think the performance in the upper chest would be that great but its not ruled out. i think with some fudging of how the plates are made it might do well but i already made a brig that turned out bad. it just didnt fit well and didnt perform well, biggest fail...

i could make an aluminum one but i cant weld aluminum right now so it would have to be a riveted one. These run $80 plus shipping. (the price will go down when i get a tig because it will be easier to make and lighter, hehe. http://i241.photobucket.com/albums/ff194/GuntherofOrkney/462838047_161678526...

churburg style body armor?
Ok i am making myself a new tourney kit and was wondering if churburg breastplates were ever covered in leather. I make some pretty decent corinthians, mild steel is $500 and stainless is $600 with a satin finish. i have been fighting in a corinthian probably 10 years of the 16 years of been fighting, the ones i make have good visibility and are very sturdy. Mohawks and brasswork is extra. http://i241.photobucke...

Re: brig help
i would suggest making the 14th century style brig that patternweld linked. just goto a sheet metal supplier and see if they can shear down the aluminum you have into strips so it would reduce the amount of work you have to do. with sign alum on overlapping plates it will be plenty strong enough for...

well i will jump on this. are you looking for a specific time period or theme for the armor. also what kind of budget do you have and when do you need it by? I personally could possibly help out but my prices are usually alittle above new fighters budgets.
