Re: dishing t-6 6061 aluminum??

i only heat up shield bosses since i cant dish them without cracking, the problem is they end up alittle softer then original unless i have the boss heat treated afterwards. Brute forces means making sure your edges are perfect otherwise the shock with tear up a bur and then crack it.

Re: Appearance and the SCA social structure

Well what looks good to one person doesnt look as good to another, period or not. you could have a group of very period good lookin 14th century fighters standing around and another Greek fighter with ok gear and if its done well i wont notice the 14th century guys, just the greek guy. That also why i...

i got diabetes and have lost 40lbs and feel great now but my nice aluminum body armor i had no longer fit,i would have had to cut it down to get it to fit then restrap it,so i sold the armor and gonna build something else.

patternweld-yes very similar to that hammer. Pitbull-i could build something that is good for heavy hammering or a smaller one that wouldnt dish the heavy helmet tops fast but would also be able to flute, planish and shrink/stretch. Thomas-if someone needed a hammer that size i could build it but shi...

Use the buffer,it gives more room. the harbor freight 8inch buffer is 3/4hp which is very nice for buffing,if you can afford it go for the big buffer.

Re: Welded aluminum chainmail??

I absolutely dont mean riveted,i have a riveted shirt and it tears in combat,so I am lookin for welded. I suppose with the right wire riveted would work but i would never trust butted, you got to remember some SCA areas dont hit as hard as others, there is a huge difference in some cases.

that is a good design but instead of driving the hammer with the air piston directly the piston should drive a leaf spring that then drives the hammer.
