Hal,
I actually bought a styrofoam head just for that, but the head tilts slightly to the side and it just didn't look right, so I just took the pics with it sitting on the table. I figure if it doesn't sell, then.....I KEEP it! :) Fate shall decide.......

Thanks for all of the kind comments and support. I really need to stop bein' such a sap, but I get attached to things pretty quickly. I just hope it doesn't go to some little kid with sticky fingers and a box of crayons. Guess that's out of my hands though. Dan, I'm glad to hear the helm is still in...

Doubt anyone's interested, but the Zelda helmet is on Ebay

Well, this began as a Halloween costume for my daughter who has now decided she wants nothing to do with this costume. I was going to make the whole thing, but...not now. Anyhow, here is the link: m I've got that sick feeling that I am making a mistake by selling this....or attempting to sell it at ...

Rather than keeping the thing tied to your leg the whole time, you can soak the leather until all the bubbles stop, then let it sit out for maybe a half hour or so before you start shaping it and/or strapping it to your leg. You're still probably lookin' at a couple hours with it strapped on. Even i...

Asmodei, it's too bad you can't find those pics. I would love to see them! Mattmaus, the mask I'm making is not really based off of the one from the movie. In fact, all of the images I used for it have been sketches and some images from a PC game. I guess I'm just trying to make it "in the spir...

Pretty please? Can we make it a sticky????

To resize the pics, uplaod them into Paint. Click "Image" from the top bar. Scroll down to "stretch/skew". In the top 2 boxes, you can choose how much to reduce the size of the pic. I usually start by putting "50" in each of the boxes (will reduce it by 50%) then hit en...

Hehe. I've kind of set this aside for now. It was going to be for my daughter's halloween costume, and now she has changed her mind. She is a bit too old for it after all. I haven't decided if I'm going to add the hood, or just sell it on Ebay as it is. I've got the hood made and everything, so I ma...

By the way, here are a couple of pics that I am using for inspiration for the rest of it. The mask is not based off of any one image in particular, and it won't be exactly like the movie one either. It's kind of an amalgamation of several different (and differing) sources. The part that's already ma...

Thanks everybody! Asmodei, Yes, I think this would look awesome in metal, especially in brass. The problem there though is that there would be alot of etching involved, and ALOT of etching solution. Oswyn,
I think they simply retracted into nothing when they took them off in the movie. This is not intended to be functional though, and it's not going to be worn, so I'm not worried about vision. :)

Thanks so much! I am pretty pleased with the progress so far. I think it's lookin' pretty cool. The rest of it is going to require a bit of thought though. Another fantasy piece - Horus mask from Stargate

I've started another fantasy mask, this time based off of the Horus masks in the movie Stargate. I'm making this for my brother, and so far I've got the face and "wing thingies" done. I think I may add a back to it and a front wich will include the lower half of the hawk's bill. Anyhow, I ...

I'm curious as to what you guys don't like about it. I've seen many that just have ovals dished out in the ab area and they don't really look anything like real abs. To me, these really do look like abs. I like this one alot more than most leather ones I have seen.

I like it. I think it appears to be very well made. Considering the cost of the leather that went into making this, and the labor of making it, I don't think the price is too far off. Maybe a bit high, but it is a nice piece. RenJunkie is right, it has a very subtle quality about it that just seems ...

Well, I took a piece of leather, rubbed rouge along the edge, and positioned the beveller so that it straddled the edge. I drew it backwards along the edge a few times, and it cuts MUCH better! It leaves clean cuts now instead of "stubbly" like it did before. I'm going to try the groover n...

You're supposed to use the rough side of the leather? Well, I'm glad I asked because I thought you used the smooth side. How do I sharpen the tools with it? How do you make/use a strop for sharpening leather tools?

My edge beveller and stitching groover are getting very dull, and I need to sharpen them. I have leather to make the strop, and I have jeweler's rouge. How do I apply the rouge to the leather? Do I need to have a wood backing for the leather? Also, how do I sharpen these tools on it?

Thanks!

See, I'm comfused about this also. It's true that a soft mallet won't leave the same kind of marks, but doesn't using a steel hammer work harden the piece to make it stronger? If it DOES, then I would say a steel hammer is better as it produces a stronger piece.

WAY WAY off topic..need info on Klipsch audio/comparable

Ok, we're thinking of getting a new surround sound system, and have looked at a few different kinds. So far, BY far, the Klipsch system has sounded the best. However, it's a teensy bit pricey, and I didn't really want to spend that much. (The 12" Klipsch subwoofer is more than one 7:1 complete ...
