A straight rectangle works? Maybe that's where I went wrong on the one I tried to make. I tried to curve the pattern a little so it conformed to the shape of the helm when attached. It was a total pain in the butt to get the right amount of curve (and to get it curved in the right place). I figured ...

I am very sorry to hear about your dog! I just posted something similar a few weeks ago when I almost lost MY dog. She was diagnosed with Adison's disease (thankfully it was diagnosed in time), and I sold pretty much all I had to help pay the vet bills (2 grand and counting). I really wish I could h...

I'm no expert on how helms should fit, but it looks to me like the helm is too big for you. Or too deep from front to back, rather. I think your chin is supposed to stick out past the face opening of the helm, but I could be wrong. From what I can tell from the pics, the aventail needs to be expande...

LWCM, Thanks for all of the suggestions and tips! I would really like to avoid measurements if at all possible, but your ideas will give me a good place to start if it comes to that. Duct tape would certainly be easiest for the customer to do, but fiberglass would be awesome to work with on my end. ...

Thank you all for the help so far!! I really appreciate this, and am already beginning to feel SLIGHTLY more confident that chausses may be do able. I really think having a positive mold of the leg is what I need, and as I said, I think I may be able to actually make these if I had that. Any and all...

Questions on casting body parts - No, Not THOSE parts....
I know what you were thinking - BAD!! Anyway, I may be making a pair of chausses, and rather than trying to figure out how to make them from measurements, I would like to get a cast of the leg and use that for the fittings. Would this work? I have no experience with chausses, and my dabbling in maki...

Man, my hubby needs to get that Dept. of Def. job in Viginia!!!!!!! They're putting together some kind of special task force he has applied for (he already works for the DOD), and it would require a move there. I would absolutely love to have an opportunity like this, and i wouldn't ask for a dime!!...

Lloyd, Thank you very much! (Both for the comments on the maille and for my puppy! ) This is going to take me a while to figure out. I am not entirely comfortable with the idea of something I made being used as a first line defence (the gorget part). Up until now, most of my things have been more fo...

Dinalt, You are taking a very big risk with this. I understand that you want to earn trust by sending the armour first, but I would suggest doing this with a far less expensive piece. There are armourers that will take your money and not ship your armour, and there are also people who will take your...

For inlay help, check around on The Ring Lord's Forum and ask for a link to Zlosk's IGP Program (Irregular Grid Painter). This is a program that lets you upload an image into it and it displays the pixels as rings, showing you how to build the inlay by showing you what color ring to use and where. I...

ML, More than likely, yes. I would need to see pics of the gorget though. I would also need to punch holes in it so that I could sew the maille and leather trim to it. Here is a pic of the inside of the collar. The padded liner is just visible in the background and you can see the corresponding velc...

ML, Thank you for your kind comments! I don't know if you can see it or not, but the collar stops at the line of stitching at the base of the neck. I am thinking of changing the shape of the collar to more of an actual gorget shape, but I have never made one before. If I go ahead with that plan, I w...

Any interest in maille gorgets/standards?
Hey guys, I just finished my second one of these and I thought I would check for interest before offering these on my site. (I am nearly out of space on my "mantles" page, and I already have the maximum number of pages for that account.) The collar has a half inch thick padded liner (in this case it...

Some of you may know that my dog was very very sick just 7 days ago. She spent a week hospitalized at the vet's, and I sold some things to help cover the bills. She is now home and doing MUCH better! Tim, It's not a problem. Thank you anyway.
Paul, shipping is as follows:
Parcel Post - $4.45
Priority - $5.85
My Paypal addy is kauscg@email.msn.com
Remember though that it is very thin metal, and there is a tear at the shoulder, plus it needs new straps.
Thank you!
