Tim, I will do my best to describe the measurements. I have such a hard time trying to describe this kind of thing in words, but if I really screw it up and make it way too confusing, I can mark the measurements on the pic (in paint). Measurements were taken across the back of the breast plate, and ...

Emergency sale to cover vet bills
Hey guys, My dog is very very sick, and the vet bills are going to be significant. I am offering these items for sale so I can have a down payment for the vet while we are waiting on the loan to come through. I got all of these things from Archivers, and I just want those people to know that I would...

Steve, Thank you very much. That means alot to me. I just called the vet. Her temp. is down a little, but she is still lethargic and she won't eat. They have had her on 2 different I.V. antibiotics since yesterday morning. Hopefully another day will bring it down further, and hopefully then she will...

Attention Clan O'Neil Guy
Joe, I hope you see this message. I am still having trouble sending you emails. The last 2 or 3 that I sent came back with a "delivery delay" notice. I had sent several pics of the finished collar, and in another email I sent pics of it with the beginnings of the mantle. If you don't get those email...

Thank you guys for the kind comments! Nicholas, I am SO glad that you like it! So, if this had a hardened leather collar (of the same 8 to 10 ounce leather?), do you think it would be protective enough to wear alone? What does the HE standard have? Is it hardened leather? I haven't really looked at ...

I made one similar to what you are describing. Would this pass as a gorget? It has the maille collar, which is lined with 8-10 ounce leather, which is lined with a 1/2" of padding. I am currently working on my second one of these, and I would like to know if it could actually pass as a gorget. [img]...

Hehe - I polished for days and I HAD sandpaper. But that's ok though because I think finish work is the fun part (planishing, sanding, etc..). It's the actual hammering of stuff that I suck at and consequently don't like it as much (YET!). I am hoping to find more pieces to refinish, as this has bee...

I don't know about rolling the edges. I did it ONCE, but that was on a flat piece of 22 gauge steel. This is (already curved) 16 gauge. If I mess it up, I could ruin the piece. I was kinda thinking about folding some brass over the egdes, but I don't know how to make it fold around curves without it...

Raito, I may give the canvas a try to see how that works. I have a bunch of canvas scraps laying around and it would be a good way to use them up. I will also try it with some leather and I can let you know how one worked vs. the other if you like. Mastersmith, thank you for the kind comments. Thank...

Yes, I tried this on with the aketon and the fit didn't seem to change much except that the part that dug in was a little more padded and didn't hurt as bad. It still kind of inhibits movement, though. As for the rivets, I wouldn't mind moving their location, I just don't want to end up with somethi...

Ok, here is what I was thinking. The red lines mark where I was thinking I could make the adjustments, and the red circles mark either holes that have been drilled in it, or rivet locations. The top of the BP would probably be the best place to begin resizing, but the problem there is the location of the rivets. I would have to work around those or I could end up with half a hole at the top of the shoulder. I may not have enough room to adjust it there. I'm beginning to wonder if I will...

Ok, say I get a buffer....(still scared ), how do I get up under the lames to polish that area without taking the arm apart? Is it "acceptable" to leave those areas with a satiny finish, or will that look like crap? If I have to take the arm apart, I will probably just leave it a satin finish. The a...

My Weekend Project - refinishing a set of arms
Hey guys! I just got these arms from an Archiver (Thank you again!!), and I immediately began sanding them. Here is a picture of the one I have't started on yet. The other one looked just like it. Ok, this may sound strange, but would polyurethane work? I bought a singletree (a wood rod thingie that goes across the front of an ox so it can pull a cart) a long time ago and it had some rusted metal end caps on it. I coated them in polyurethane and it stopped the rust. Could that be used on armo...

Ok, I tried it on with my (sleeveless) gambeson, and I am still having the same problems. For some reason, the fit doesn't seem that much different than without it. Questions on the fit of a globose BP
Hey guys, I bought a used BP and it doesn't fit me very well. I think I need to make some adjustments, but the problem is that I am not sure how it's supposed to fit. The bottom edge ends at the top of my hips, and kind of digs in at that point, especially at the corners. The chest part seems too wi...
