Migueldz, Do you mean like this: The red dot indicates the pointy end of the triangle. Excuse the poor drawing, but is that basically what you mean? I can see how that would work pretty well. So after I undish this, the panel w...

Thank you all for the support and the very nice comments! They are both needed and appreciated! Ron, where could I get one of those shineys for myself? (the SCH40 thing) Must....... have...... If I can't afford one right now, could I use the small ball stake, or is the curve too drastic? EDIT: Wait,...

Rainald, thanks for the bowling ball idea! Ron, thank you also for sharing that tip. What exactly is an 8" SCH 40 domed pipe? Alcyoneus, I see what you mean, that makes sense. Arched, but not "puffy". Won't that distort that shape of the panel though if the top is dished but the bottom isn't? Ok, sh...

Ok, I will try that!! (the upside down dish). As for the pointed end, I learned real quick that having a glove on my hand was a pretty durn good thing to have. I don't usually like working with a glove on 'cause I can't "feel" the shape of the metal, but in this case I figured I can just feel it lat...

Ok, this is gonna sound real stupid, but keep in mind that I am blonde. What is the difference between curving and dishing? I know they are different processes, but don't they give you the same basic shape? How do I "un dish" it and still keep the arc? How far up the panel do I have to "undish", or ...

Hey guys, I need a little advice on fitting the panels to the bands. Here's where I am at so far (which is NOT far at all): [img]http://img.villagephotos.com/p/20...

I don't know how people can protect themselves from this. I bet it takes alot of money and an attorney to correct these types of situations, and I know I don't have the money to protect myself if something like this should happen to me. Let's hope this isn't becoming a trend. As for the site that wa...

Suspicious Maille vendor

Hello all, I just thought I would warn you about a suspicious maille vendor that has popped up lately. Here is their web address: m They seem to be using Forth Armoury's pictures as their own, and are claiming to be the first and only wedge riveted maille vendor. There is also another site (I will p...

I got some steel sheet (stainless) from ACE Iron and Metal here in Columbus. It's a scrap yard, so you will have to dig around, and you may not always find what you are looking for, but it's pretty cheap. I can't remember the exact pricing, but you can call them for more info. Their number is 614-44...

Thanks so much, and it was a pleasure doing business with you!

Just FYI, if you ship them in a USPS Priority Mail Flat Rate box, you can send as many as you can get into the box (as long as the weight is under 70 pounds) to any of the 50 States for $7.50 US. Do you happen to have any pics of these with a ruler or something next to them to show size? I may be in...

Mike,
Yes, basically I am looking for extant pieces that I could re create. I would be interested in any extant garment pieces, especially pieces that are nearly intact so I can see how they were made. Any period is fine.

Thanks again,

Jason,
That would be great, as long as it's not going to get you in trouble. I'm just looking for a little inspiration for some new maille pieces, so if you have the time and it's not going to cause you any problems, I would love to have them!

Thanks again,

Thanks for that link. I guess that's the right place, but it doesn't have the pics that I remembered it having. The site has also been redesigned. It used to have a black background, and there were several maille pics on the site, if this is the site I was thinking of.

Thanks again,

Need pics of museum maille

Hiya, I need some pictures of maille from museums (or private collections). Does anyone have any? I had some, but lost them when my PC crashed. Ok, I got lost here: Now for the tricky part. Holding the point of the sole in position pivot the sole around until it touches point "x" on one side. Draw down the side of the sole. Repeat this process for the other side. You should now have something that looks like this. Fig 3. I am blonde and nee...

Timothy, Thanks for replying. I've done a few searches, and I did find some free patterns but the trouble I have is figuring out how to print them out to the right size. I will need 5 outfits, and would rather just buy the patterns in the right size to save time and aggravation (if I can afford it)....
