Black Rain, Thank you also for your offer of support . It's really great to know that I have this much support! As for the policy, I really hated to change it also. I wanted people to feel comfortable ordering from me, and I figured customers ALWAYS take the risk, so why not try it this way for a wh...

Need help creating a logo
Hi everybody. I've been thinking about creating a logo for use on my website, and also possibly as an armourers stamp if I ever begin making plate armour. I would like it to have meaning, you know, something that pertains to me, what I make, etc. but I am unsure how to begin. I thought about a shiel...

That is so cool that you guys were gonna open up some whoop arse on my behalf. You guys are great! Meaddrinker, there is some bad news, though. I didn't get a detailed account of the fit of the shirt. I was really interested in hearing how the arms fit at the elbow, weather they bent comfortably, et...

I sent off an email to him yesterday, basically pleading that he come through and send payment. I received an apology email today and he stated that he would send payment within the next couple of days. Maybe I was too hasty in thinking that he wasn't going to pay, although 4 weeks without contact r...

Lloyd, I wish I could, but I don't think he's in the SCA. He only joined the Archive to buy armour for his wedding, and I haven't seen him here since. I have thought about contacting Canada Post to see if I have any recourse through them, but I imagine they can do nothing. I would probably have to f...

Thank you for the sentiment. It looks like I will not hear back from him. I should have know when he didn't ask about prices, but I had told him my policy was to send out the goods so they could be inspected before I asked for payment, and I stuck to that despite the "feeling" I had. Needless to say...

Leo, I am so relieved to hear that it fit! I am also glad that you are happy with it! I do have one complaint though (;)) Now that my hubby has that GPS, I think he's gonna make me go hike in the woods. Gee, I can't imagine a better way to spend a day, walking through thick brush, spider webs (AND s...

Aaron, I am very sorry to hear about your dad. I sincerely hope that his recovery will be quick. I would be more than happy to donate something for auction to help rais...

Hey there. I haven't heard from you in some time. I don't know if you are receiving my emails or not, so I decided to post here on the off chance you might see it. I am glad to hear that the shirt fit well, and if you have any trouble with the fit of the coif, just let me know. If everything fits we...

Mike, That shirt you see a little further up in this post was my very first. I would be somewhat hesitant to offer to make another one, unless the buyer understood that I am still learning. For reference, it was made of 14 gauge galvy, using 3/8" rings. I don't usually work in 16 gauge as I don't li...

Sorry I have not replied. For some reason, I was not notified that there were any responses to this. I must have accidentally hit the "stop watching this" link. As for putting a solid steel collar in the mantle, I have almost NO experience working with plate, and I would be afraid that I would end u...

Review of Woodward Fab rotary shear
Hello all, I have a post on this subject in the design/construction forum, but I figured I'd post here as well. A few weeks ago I bought a rotary shear from Woodward Fab. It's rated for up to 1/8" steel, and cuts curves as well as straight cuts. When I first got it, it was determined that a part was...

OK, I now have the replacement part and after messing with the gap some, it finally works properly. It cut through 14 gauge mild easily, including cutting curves. He said that although it was rated up to 1/8" thick steel, it could handle metal thicker than 1/8", but I have not tested it for that. If...

Orc, I am certainly not the best mailler, but my prices are fairly reasonable. There are many maille artisans here and on other boards that make VERY nice pieces. So, to all of you maillers out there, speak up! Be proud of your chosen professions (OBsessions?) and be heard! Maille is art AND armour ...

Mantle w/collar to be added to my website
Hello everyone, I will be adding collared mantles to my website under the "mantles" page. Here are some pictures of one that I am working on right now: T...

Hi, The mantle is not complete. I still need to make 2 more "panels" to close it up. It will have a slit running down the back so that the person can get his head through, and I think he's going to close the slit with straps and buckles. I should have it finished in a couple of days, and I planned o...

SirSylvanar, Thanks for the info and the web site link. Right now I'm not looking to actually pay cash as I don't really have it to spare. I was hoping to be able to trade for something that I already have or can make. Do you think people on that site would be interested in maille? Thanks again, Cat

Dominic, That sounds like it's a little too expensive for my blood. I mean, I don't like the kid THAT much . At this time I do not make riveted maille, so I probably wouldn't have anything to trade you anyway. If he wants something like THAT, he can go get himself a job. Lloyd, Ok, maybe it's not th...

kniggit, Thanks for the offer, but he said he didn't really want that brand. Looking to trade for paintball gun
Hey all, I don't know diddly about paintball stuff, but my daughter's boyfriend is wanting one and I told him I'd ask around. He wants one that's either semi automatic or fully automatic and said something about the Tippman brand. Anyway, I don't know how much these things run used, but I have a 3 p...

FIRE!!!! Use fire to burn it off. For one, it's FUN, and two, it's effective. It doesn't take long either if your coals are really hot, just a couple of seconds in the forge. I would leave the paint on your pieces until you're ready to use them. Trace your pattern onto the painted surface, cut it ou...

I JUST bought one of those. It cut through 16 gauge stainless easily, but due to a defective part the blades would sometimes quit cutting and roll over the top of the metal. I sent the defective part out in the mail yesterday, and I'm anxious to get the replacement so I can test it on 14 gauge mild....
