Hehe..I'm afraid of wasting the elk. I'm gonna try it out in fabric first, but fabric won't tell me all I need to know, ya know? And I still need to find something to use for the dangly....things...whatever they are. And I still need to figure out what the heck I'm lookin' at before I can really sta...

Maeryk, Thank you very much! I hadn't seen any of these for sale anywhere, and I thought I would give it a try. I really like the look of these, so I hope there will be enough interest to make it worth adding to my product list. I would like to say THANK YOU to Karen Lardstatter (sp?) for having the...

AUCTION: CLOSED 14thCent tooled, hardsided leather case
**EDIT: I have ended the auction early due to the fact that I received a bid that is close to what the retail price will be. Please see my post on page 2, and feel free to contact me with any questions.** Well, I've never done an auction here before, so I thought I would give it a shot and see how m...

Crap, I had planned on making some of these but you beat me to it. I also wrote to the people from the MR museum. They got back to me fairly quickly and answered most of my questions, although they tossed in a note at the end of the email stating that it is described further in their book. (Can't re...

Yes, this is a seller on Ebay - goes by the business name of Distant Drums. Brettun's Village also has some, AND it's undyed so you can dye it how you want. Only problem with their stuff is the sides range from 4 to 9 ounce PER SIDE, and I don't know how much would be useable for pouches. (They say ...

Hey guys, I want to get some opinions. First, how much interest is there in these pouches? Second, what do you think of pouches done in the elk skin pictured below? Most of the pouches I see are kinda dark, so I wanted to get some opinions before I bought this. I can still get the darker brown, but ...

About the only things I could change on yours at this point are the strap and drawstringer cincher leather weight. I can't change the strap width as the holes are already punched. If you like, I can make the swap. Or, I can mail it out today (it's packaged and ready to go). The upside is you saved $...

Sounds great Chris! I will have time pretty soon, but I'm about out of leather. I've got a few payments coming in, and will be able to resupply once those hit my account. I'm guessing another week or two for all of those. In the meantime, if you want to send me the images you were wanting, I can do ...

Next up are the bracers. There are lots of options for these. The following is included in each category: -Custom made to your measurements -Hand made buckle in your choice of brass or steel -Hand sewn straps - can choose riveted as well, but the stitching works much better -Oil finish with waxed ce...

Future products, leather opinion needed
**Opinion needed for leather color - see my post a bit further down... I'm in the process of trying to come up with new items for my site to replace the ones I will be eliminating. So far, I've got two new products that will be available. FYI: I'm not currently taking orders. I've got a few orders I...

You know, it's entirely possible that tacking it to a last while steaming may work. I had thought about shaping it to a form once the leather had reached the proper temp, and then letting it air dry. I may be way off in my assumptions about steaming, but it kinda makes sense. The Cuir term (however ...

Kilkenny - you mentioned steam....I have wondered for a while if that's what they mean by Cuir..Cuirr....aw heck - boiled leather. I have been meaning to try a double boiler or steamer type setup, maybe using a thermometer to see what kind of temps the steam is getting to at different distances from...

Thanks so much for all of the links and info! Mainly I am looking for small, historical linen projects that might make a good product. My hubby got me a sewing machine for Christmas (I don't know how to use a machine though), and I thought I could put it to use. (I can hand sew also) Right now I've ...

Edward, PM sent. It looks like there might be some interest in these. I will need to talk to the person I got this leather from and see if I can secure them as a source. If not, I will have to price the stuff somewhere else. Elk can get CRAZY expensive, so hopefully the person I got this from will b...

Well, that buckle was made from a ring I had done up for something else that I ended up not using. I could probably make up another one like that, and I'm also playing around with some brass buckles too. I've only made about 4 buckles so far, so they're not perfect. I could do one for you for $2 plu...
